    Japanese Supermarket Soup

    This soup recipe is adapted from a cooking video that was playing on a small screen as part of a product display in a Los Angeles area Japanese supermarket

    10.5 oz raw pork komagire (pork shoulder
    or a similar cut of meat sliced into thin, wide ribbons) roughly chopped – 553 calories

    9 cups dashi (Japanese bonito and kelp based soup stock) made using dashi powder or liquid dashi concentrate according to package directions – 60 calories (may vary based on dashi used; I used HYOSHIRO Original Dashi Stock Powder)

    9 oz raw lotus root – outer layer peeled and discarded, remaining cut into quartered medallions – 189 calories

    9 oz raw carrot – outer layer peeled and discarded, remaining cut into quartered medallions (used large carrot, quartering may be unnecessary) – 108 calories

    18 oz raw daikon radish – outer layer peeled and discarded, remaining cut into quartered medallions (used large root, quartering may be unnecessary) – 92 calories

    1. Bring stock to boil

    2. Add ingredients except miso
