I also LOVE the custard taiyaki but ate it so quickly I didn’t get a picture!

    Would love to hear suggestions. It’s a fun place to hangout and take people from out of town but all the food I’ve had there has been you standard food truck offerings i.e. gimmicky and usually over priced.

    Goat Mafia and Los Dorados are 2 of my favorite tacos in LA. Goat Mafia’s beet chivadilla with pepitas, and their birria tamales (winter offering only, I believe) are 2 of my favorite LA dishes period.
    That Lechón looks great! Hope to try it soon.

    Evil Cooks – black Al pastor tacos & flan taco for dessert. If the octopus is there, try it!

    Little Llama tacos – lomo saltado tacos

    Saucy Chick Rotisserie – a mix of Mexican & Indian. The nachos were delicious!

    Only been to smorgasburg once when they had their first one after covid and it was absolute chaos. Only tried amazebowls and the german fry place I can’t remember what its called. I know my choices were poor but all other booths were incredibly long and it was disgustingly hot out. What is it like now in terms of how busy it gets?

    I really like Little Llama and Goldburger. Shrimp Daddy was good too even though it had a really long line. The churro spot is good too, but i don’t remember what that one was called. Lines aren’t bad if you go before like 11 or so

    To be honest, nothing. I’m not saying these places make bad food, but when you have thousands of people you have to feed and huge lines, the quality goes way down. You start skimping on ingredients. You have to cook things in large batches and then try to hold them at temp. Most of these places are set up to feed 20 to 30 people an hour. But have to rush everything to make sure they’re feeding close to 100 or more per hour.
    Almost everything I’ve had there, I’ve later gone and had where these vendors normally set up and it’s 10 times better. Smorgasburg is great for discovering places, but in my opinion, the food is terrible there.

    I miss Shrimp Daddy. Say what you will about the wait and the hype, those were some really good Hawaiian-style shrimp. If anyone has a recommendation of where I can get similar shrimp in LA, let me know!

    Evil Cooks black al pastor taco is the best. Everything else I’ve had at Smorg is pretty mid tbh.

    I’ll say where to definitely NOT go… Cheezus

    Whatever oil they used to grill their bread was so beyond rancid I had to toss the entire sandwich. It was completely inedible. For a place that supposedly specializes in grilled cheese, to use a rancid oil is absolutely unforgivable. I still can imagine that taste in my mouth whenever I think about it.

    Truly shocked I haven’t seen Chimmelier’s chicken sandwich on here. Hands down one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had in years.

    Also Lei’d cookies slap.

    I LOVE Be Bright Coffee – their einspanner is amazing. Definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for coffee while at smorgasburg!

  11. The vegan musubi surprised me! Workaholics is my favorite though

  12. speakersr4

    They’re not there anymore but I loved Bungkus Bagus.

  13. nickbuch

    Nothing. Everything I had there a couple years ago was terrible and overpriced sadly.

    Vendor list here if anyone needs a reminder – https://la.smorgasburg.com/vendors

    * Broad St Lobster Roll – but you can roll over to Grand Central Market not far away if you want a fuller menu.
    * Chimmelier Korean Fried Chicken
    * Smoke Queen – shared the big platter with my friend. Definitely can feed 2 well! The Asian spin on it is awesome.
    * Be Bright Coffee – yummy but the wait isn’t worth it unless you want to kill time to digest or you split up with friends for divide and conquer.
    * Vegan options – solid foods for your veggie friends
    * Cena Vegan Mexican
    * senoreata

    Jolly oyster! Some of the best oysters I’ve ever had

  16. KrisNoble

    Seńoreata: Cuban food but it’s vegan.

    Mao’s Bao

  17. Dommichu

    My favorite is Dorados without a doubt. But I also love the clam pizza at Urbn. Not quite Frank Pepes… but it does hit the spot!!

  18. cliffsis

    I had a 2lb bbq beef rib that was fucking amazing

  19. Noahs132

    Am I wrong for saying that the Mulita is expensive for $10?

  20. froggystyle66

    The best thing I ever had at smorg was ugly drum pastrami burnt ends and bread heels covered in raclette cheese from cheezus.

  21. currentlyatw0rk

    Don’t live in cali but love the name of the place haha

  22. MariahMiranda1

    I’ve been wanting to go over there for quite some time. Thank you for this post!!!!

    How good is Lade Slush?
    I love the branding and love slushees but never tried them.

    As a vegatarian, I was skeptical the first time I went there about 4yrs ago. But, I love it since that first visit. The vegan stand with super delicious plant-based “meats” in Mexican dishes, forget their name but they’re on the first row (5th or 6th stall) on the right side as you enter. I always get their rice bowl with an extra helping of “meat”. The musubis, Peruvian, arepas… all have awesome vegetarian fare.

    I am not sure if they are there every week, but the Tlayuda.
