    > Fahmee Bakery, once known for supplying restaurants and TTC subway stations like Bathurst and Warden with its Jamaican patties, closed its last takeout location on Lansdowne Avenue over the weekend. This comes a year after a fire destroyed its main production facility.

    > “It’s a combination of the same things everyone else is going through. Trouble finding staff, the price of ingredients,” said Fahmee Bakery owner Faiz Abdella, 25, about the closure. “After a long COVID, it’s hard for businesses with inflation, the increase of interest rates, employment shortages.”

    > With the help of a loan from his father, Abdella took over operations of Fahmee five years ago from the retiring Lue family, who had previously owned the decades-old business. As the new boss, Abdella decided to make the patties halal to better reflect the city’s diverse population. He also opened two additional locations at 1971 Weston Rd. and 222 Lansdowne Ave., the latter of which opened more than three years ago.

    > “I knew the patty would be the dish of Toronto before it became mainstream,” he said. “I used to pass by Warden subway station from school and debate who has the best patties.”

    > In the meantime, Fahmee’s patties are available at Carol’s and Mateo’s Munchies. They will also be at the Evergreen Brick Works on April 22 as part of the Noodle Festival food event.

That sucks as I live close by and was craving it today.

Part of me feels for the guy, but the other part wonders if he was over his head. Not much is said of the first Lansdowne location, which shuttered their doors after only a few months.

I’m confused. Are they closed to focus on wholesale? Which means we can still get the patties…🤔😅
