Did anybody go today? Thoughts? Worth it to go tomorrow?

    I went yesterday.
We showed up relatively early and grabbed some boba while the lines were still short. The longest lines were at Sandoitch (second tent in the front gate) and the Soufflé Pancake (middle of the line against the fence to the parking) vendors.

There were about 20-25 goods vendors and probably 40-50 food vendors.

Everything we had was delicious. We went as a group and decided to divide and conquer.

Food was mostly “regular” sized entrees (not sample sized) and were priced like most festivals, about $14 a sandwich.

There was ample grass seating and they allowed chairs if you want to lug one around but the grass was fine.

We left before it got dark but the performances were great as well.

It’s crazy that they charged entry and charged the vendors to be there.

There was like 10 food vendors and then about 15 knick knack ones. Mostly Thai food and for the prices would have rather gone to a restaurant imo. Nothing stood out as that good and ordered from at least 4. Unfortunately was not as great an experience as I had hoped

We took our toddler and she had fun running around but I wouldn’t recommend driving all the way out there just for the food. The lines were pretty long so it wasn’t easy to bounce around and sample a number of different things like I hoped. Overall, nice weather and an enjoyable evening.

  5. Just left there. Decent spend of an hour or so. We arrived just before 5pm and the lines were already stacking up to be unmanageable. It was fine because we didn’t expect to eat a lot and was just there for the experience.

By the time we left, each food vendor line was insane and not worth the wait imo. We got a pork bun from one of the Vietnamese tents for $5 that was still frozen in the center. When we brought it back, the lady exchanged it for another that was still cold inside. Didn’t waste more time and just threw it out after eating the bun around it.

Random item vendors was mostly a collection of marked up amazon anime bootleg toys or probably straight from Alibaba/Taobao. Saw a tent selling bootleg Croc jibbitz charms that I know came in a huge pack from Amazon. Some cool artist prints that were the stand out.

Otherwise, cool overcast weather and a nice walk around the park but definitely not worth it for the food or merchandise.

I didn’t like the experience, went tonight at 6pm, waited in line for 90 mins to get Thai BBQ and didn’t get a chance to walk around to see any vendors.

I just think it’s odd some events get crucified about long lines and no seating and then some don’t. Very strange to me.

We arrived and were one of the first in line. We intentionally got there early as festivals in Austin always get hectic and you never wanna go when it peaks. We left at 530 and saw the car lines already long. As like with what most people are saying, we ate beforehand as we expected the food to be mediocre. Sandoitchi so overrated for example. Only one Banh Mi spot. Had a combination of local and out of town vendors. Hopefully one day, it’ll uplevel with vendors that will make stinky tofu, noodle soups, fry squid, pork buns. All vendors played safe with their offerings. Overall, much better than the last time there was the Asian Night Market at the Statesmen but not as great as some of the Lunar New Year bigger celebrations this year.
