Hopefully I posted in a way that doesn’t upset y’all this time. This was my fifth time visiting Barley Swine and I am always impressed at the dinner that they put together.

I always thought those were ashtrays that the corn dogs were served on. I bought a few at an estate sale years ago and bust em out when folks are smoking. Never thought to serve corn dogs in them 🤣
They may actually be coasters, but I don’t have small enough glasses for them 🤷♀️

Cost? Do they have lactose free options?

The plating and lighting just make most of it seem unappetizing to me, especially that trout dish floating around in potlikker. It’s not your post per se, most posts I see of food from Barley Swine just seem meh. Glad you enjoyed it tho!

Every time I’ve been to Barley Swine I’ve had a great experience. I think this is consistently one of the better upscale restaurants in Austin. Interesting to me that even though I went not too long ago, I don’t recognize any of these dishes. Nice to see how quickly they rework the menu.

So, I assumed you pick one dish from each section of the menu (online), but you have almost all of the openers. Do they provide all of the openers or is that like the entire menu given to everyone?
Thanks

That first kohlrabi dumpling bite and trout with the kimchee-ish sauce were my favorites when I went a few weeks ago. Everything was fantastic though!

We know the folks that own Belle Vie- an ethical and sustainable farm. Barley Swine has always been great about sourcing from local farmers.

I love Barley Swine. We go every year for our anniversary.

Based purely on the appearance, looks like 3 of the dishes were great. Which is honestly not bad for a “chef’s choice” fancy style experience. I tend to never really enjoy these kinds of things , even the Michelin starred ones, but for what it is it looks pretty good

Those shiitake dumplings are probably one of the most fun dishes I’ve ever put in my mouth. They were on the first tasting menu I ever had there and I’m really glad they are available as an add on now because I thought about them for months after
