I was pretty nervous about cooking this t-bone but I think I did relatively well.
Just black pepper, salt, and garlic powder with extra virgin olive oil & butter.

Very nice! My first steak wasn’t that good lol.

Before the deluge of comments bashing this I’ll get some stuff out of the way.

EVOO and butter are good with most things except really high heat searing. Butter will burn and EVOO has a low smoke point- turns rancid and burns at high heat compared to say Avocado Oil, tallow etc.

Butter baste at the end is perfectly fine 👍

What pan did you sear it in? The crust is one of the hardest things to get right without overdoing the inside or smoking out your kitchen haha

Pepper is such an underappreciated spice for grilling.

Op this steak looks amazing for a first time. Luckily one of my Uncle’s taught me how to cook steak before I could cook eggs lol.

A little overcooked for my taste but still looks pretty solid

Nice, that looks like a nice fat juicy piece of meat. People will tell you that it’s a bit over but that looks still super moist and tender. Turn the heat up if you’d like a bit more crust the next time.

In the oven? Google “reverse seared steak”. The ultimate cook method for steak. You will be amazed how it turns out even with a gas grill. Ideally low temp smoke to around a 100 deg(F)…. Need a thermometer…. Then sear as as hot as your grill will go. Rotate and pull. Internal shouldn’t get above 135 deg(F). Rest is overrated on steak cuts. Just mine and a lot of other opinion’s. I vary my steaks off this basis. Enjoy your hard work and look always to improve. I do.

higher heat for a better sear.

reverse sear is the way to go by the way.

buy a meat thermometer, you’ll be glad you did.
