Hidden gem of a burger place. It’s a bar, so adults only. Heavy pours on the drinks too. I got the hideout burger, no onions, add cheese and bacon. He got the mean green. If you’re looking for a tasty grease-burger, this is the place.

I’ve heard the burgers here are really good – do you agree?

That’s really a good name for this place. You wouldn’t know it was even there unless you were looking for it.

They also have really good wings and fried pickles. My fav place for a reasonably priced drink and a bar snack

Agree that they do a good burger, and the bar is old school in the best possible way. They also used to serve thoroughly decent fish-and-chips but I think that menu offering became a casualty of the pandemic. RIP, fishy deliciousness.

Looks great! r/Austin used to do meetups there, or at least the meetup that I went to was there.

aptly named and one of north Austin’s real gems

This is what I’m talking about! Looks delicious. It’s been here 17 years and I’ve never heard of it, crazy. That location use to be either a 7-11 or a Stop N Go. I just never drive down that access road. I’m going to have to try it.

Just want to add if you want to see some Austin history, about a block away, [at the corner of Waters Park and Adelphi](https://www.google.com/maps/@30.4175788,-97.7085432,3a,75y,258.52h,68.68t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sGe0vCgTmFtewZ15RFzucvw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) lies a bunch of huge granite stones. It’s from a train derailment that happened prior to 1888. Those stones were material to build the Capitol building but never made it.

Great bar, haven’t tried the food but looks like good pub fare. A lot of people seem to think food has to be the finest dining imaginable to make it worth posting about, I love to see regular food done well here. Normalize normal ass food!

Can attest that this is a good neighborhood pub. No longer live close, but Workhorse on Northloop is my best comparator. Friendly, good (pub) food, good value.

That burger has been sitting under the hot lamp for a while.

Looks pretty good, but gonna need about 4x the amount of tots, they’re skimping.

Haven’t found a better burger in Austin than the A1 burger.
