So far one of the best food trucks I’ve tried this year was ATX shoyu Sugar.

Above is the red rocks special- 16 for 3 meats (chicken teriyaki, KFC, and galbi) and the chicken Katsu 14 for 2 large pieces cut up into slices. The photo isn’t the best but each plate comes with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of Mac salad. He makes all the sauces from scratch and the Katsu sauce was delish! I also tried the li Hing watermelon gummies (5) and the spam musubi for 3. Those were good too. Everything was delicious they have punch cards and the owner was super friendly. The only negative thing is i’m not a big fan of the area and the couple times I went to the food trucks here by myself weird men would approach me. It didn’t happen when I went with my husband this time!

I’ve been looking for four years and this is the best plate lunch you’ll find without driving all the way to New Braunfels for L&L. I love this truck and the family that runs it is so nice!
They are my go-to for plate lunch, and pretty much the only plate lunch you’re going to find in the greater Austin area right now.
They do have loco moco on occasion.. and they always have the best selection of Hawaiian plate lunch you can ask for.
Their maca salad is onolicious… Definitely more like the stuff you’d get in Kauai than Hawaii, sweeter and full of the good stuff.
It’s also the only place I find lillekoi iced passion tea regularly.

The family that owns Shoyu Sugar is from my hometown. They import a lot of their items straight from their family from home and they deserve every bit of their success.
