Going to very local spots in Bangkok, food stalls tend to look like this. In the Philippines this would be a called a carinderia or turo-turo but I’m not sure what it’s called in Thailand. I will say it does taste pretty similar to stuff back in the Philippines. Taken in Bangkok, Thailand.

  1. It’s called Khao Gaeng (ข้าวแกง) here in Thailand, which literally translates to “Rice (with) Curry”.

It’s also sometimes called Tam Sang (ตามสั่ง) or Ahan Tam Sang (อาหารตามสั่ง), which literally means “Made-to-Order” or “Food Made-to-Order”, but that’s used more to refer to a certain type of restaurant where you sit down and can order “anything” to be cooked for you rather than pre-cooked like in these pictures.

In the first picture at the bottom left, is that stuffed bitter melon?

  3. This looks typical to all the street vendors that I’ve seen in Thailand.
