I know this was a special event but all their beers are this expensive and we have to tip on top of this? I’m getting really tired of living in Austin lately. Bars and restaurants have all lost their mind.

Their beers have ALWAYS been this expensive. I stopped going like 5/6 years ago because I was over the hype, but I assure you, their pours have always been more than most. I feel like some of the prices are warranted but not all. A lot of their beers sit for a long time.

Your problem is you went to the fanciest brewery expecting cheap beer. This weekend I went to Brewtorium, Lazarus, and Independence. All had normal craft beer prices ($5-$7)

I honestly don’t know what you expected going to Jester King, and on top of that going to Jester King during a special event. They’re pricey to begin with, let alone during Doomforge

  5. Ya. You never purchased barrel aged beer before,

Takes a long time and is a specialty

I see absolutely nothing unreasonable here. Jester King has never pretended to be an inexpensive place to get a drink. As others have said, there are plenty of excellent breweries in Austin with lower prices. Find something legitimate to complain about.

I generally expect to pay around this for a drink when I go out, and for fancy beer have been paying this much for ages, including in other cities.

If you want to complain about pricing, better post to r/ Austin, we understand cost/value here

omg the most fru-fru brewery in the area has expensive beer during a special event.

Twisted X, Ghost Note, Beerburg, and Family Business were all <10 min away… TwX mcconnahaze is one of the best values in town imo
You’re clueless about beer or Google maps…

You literally went to the most expensive designer brewery in the metro lol

What were you expecting from a place that don’t even do cans just bottles

  12. Treaty Oak is a hop away and craft beers are $6-9, albeit a smaller selection, but you get the choice of spirits and cocktails along with a wider variety of food.

Fitzhugh brewing is good if you have a thousand kids, craft beers are $5-6 and food is fine.

12 Fox Beer is also great with $5-9 beers, I always enjoy the people there, it’s smaller and feels more homey.

Family Business has $6 beers and tons of space.

Basically if you came to the Drip looking for affordable beer, you chose the one place that doesn’t have it.

This is like going to the fanciest steakhouse in town and then being shocked at the menu prices. You don’t want to pay $65 for a steak, go to a different restaurant.

  14. Lol. Op posts a complaint about prices and gets roasted by every response.

Their signs lie. All their beers are sours.
