Good video on the ghost kitchen issue. Highlights a lot of Los Angeles ghost kitchens on delivery apps.

Every time I give into trying a ghost kitchen I’m reminded they should be avoided.

Agreed. Ghost kitchen quality and reliability always lags in comparison to full service restaurants. BTW – anyone know if/how ghost kitchens are held to the same food preparation and public health standards as other restaurants? I see new ghost kitchens popping up on the apps daily and I’m wondering if the department of health is monitoring these sites and holding them to the same standards.

Guy orders nine of the same sandwich from the same kitchen and is shocked when they’re all the same
Edit: there’s a place near me that’s the opposite. They have like twelve restaurants listed, but they’re all the same, same menu, pics, everything. Just a bunch of different names.

….so long story short (yes, I watched the whole 40 minute video): Tech companies and capitalism take an otherwise amazing, revolutionary concept and skirt regulation and scruples to make as much money as possible with wanton disregard of their competitors and consumers.

That was kind of a waste of time. But then again I have never ordered off an app cause I like picking up my own food.

Literally just watched this on a whim tonight and was super surprised. Health and safety is in major jeopardy for the sake of monetary gain. Who will you sue if you have an allergic reaction from a virtual restaurant?! Why is the general public being lied to?? Not cool at all.
I remember when I used to deliver food, I was picking up from a “wing store” inside Applebees… I remember thinking it was insanely weird. At least that could be traced to Applebees… as highlighted in the video, LA (and soon many other places) will have a whole worse issue.

I see ghost kitchens. They’re everywhere. They don’t know they’re bad.

Between the ghost kitchen and the astronomic delivery fees, I’m surprised anyone orders off doordash/ubereats
