[Toronto Life] What’s on the menu at Piano Piano’s whimsically wacky new St. Lawrence location – featuring a full-size carousel horse, and shrimp cocktail in a cup (sorry /r/WeWantPlates)

looks like a sick place to do a bunch of bag with an escort or five

Piano Piano’s other location recently got a bunch of health infractions for Kitchen sanitation. Google DineSafe Toronto Piano Piano and you’ll see. This is No doubt part of a rebrand to escape that ugly truth.

Ive been. Nice spot. The vibe was a little weird to me, somewhere in between high end 80’s cocaine party, and a fever dream.
Food’s not bad. Got the calimari/artichoke to start, which was delicious. Also got the burrata, which wasnt impressive.
Mains were the pizza with money, and pasta. Healthy portions. Skeptical of places charging almost $30 for basic pasta dishes. Pizza had too much honey. The pasta was forgettable.
Drinks, while expensive, were a hit. Enjoyed my negroni, actually one of the better in the city.
Service was great. The carousel sink thing was cool for the 2 minutes you spend looking at it.

I’ve been, as well… Nonplussed. To me, this group has lost focus on food, and given way to “creating a vibe”. Just seems like they’re trying too hard.

Shrimp cocktails are suppose to be in cups though?

Was there two weeks back and while the decor was interesting the food was nothing special. I hate that a lot of places and people implicitly consider anything Italian to be fine dining and get away with charging ridiculous amounts for basic pasta dishes.

Whoa. The photos of the plated food in that article didn’t do Piano Piano any favours. A lot of it looked like East Side Mario’s from the 90s.
I’ve eaten at the Harbord location and wasn’t impressed. It was a nice evening with friends, but not good value (and I don’t have a problem paying for great food in a great room – but this ain’t that)
