Just visited the new mums food. The hours are kinda short and they only open for lunch at 11 until sell out. Address is 5811 manor rd. I got the 1/2 pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut and brisket burnt end sandwich. Also got a side of shells and cheese and potato salad and matzo ball soup. I was a big fan of the sandwiches and felt the meat was very moist and seasoned well and I thought what set these sandwiches apart was how good the bread was. I liked the sides but I wouldn’t pay 7 dollars for a side of shells and cheese again. The matzo ball was good too. They don’t do ribs or brisket on Wednesdays, only burnt ends. We will need to go back to try the chest pie, unfortunately they used salt instead of sugar and ruined the batch for today 😂

I personally like this one more than otherside deli because I like how it was moist and not too dry. But I’m not a pastrami expert.

$15 for a sandwich … man food prices are rising fast!

Feel like $10 for a bowl of matzo ball soup is a bit outrageous. Even in NY that’s a $5 dish.

  5. I’ve been there twice. I think their pastrami is fabulous – and I’m someone who grew up eating in NYC kosher delis.

  6. This looks pretty solid, will definitely be trying it. I also prefer moist pastrami and had the same (minor) issue with Otherside tbh, although it was still good. I also love chess pie so very interested in that!

$34/lb daaaaaang god bless um too if they sell out every day

  8. $12 for a sausage or chicken salad sandwich is absolutely absurd.

$23 + tax and I assume they ask for a tip for a pastrami sandwich. Making Katz’ look like a bargain.

If you’re not getting the cheesecake, you’re missing out. Best in Austin, in my opinion.

  11. I’m curious why the family style is actually $20 more expensive than ordering everything separately lol …

The food looks delicious but I’m honestly put off by the prices TBH.$14 for a salad? $20 for a corned beef sandwich? Most BBQ places around here also offer bread and pickles at no additional cost.

1/4 lb of pastrami in the half sandwich is $11.00? Am I reading that right?

  14. Haha thanks for posting the sandwich in your hand, from the first pic I thought $11/$20 was high but that’s a biggun!

Small business, low volume, labor is expensive, beef is expensive. I think we can cut them some slack.

And the pastrami is amazing. Katz’s is the first place I’ll go eat when I visit New York. I’m a snob about pastrami and Mums is top tier.

$7 for mac and cheese is ridiculous.

I can get half a Reuben and matzo ball soup for less than that at Katz’s in NYC. And that includes their sour pickles.

Food looks good, portion looks big, price is about right. Why is everyone complaining? Go to Mickie D if you want mass produce cheap food.

At first, I thought this was another school lunch post.

  20. Will try and I’ll close my eyes when signing the check
