    Otto’s Berlin Döner in Kensington

  2. Thank you for asking this question! I also was looking for something more like Euro style kebab but couldn’t find anything

    Between Otto’s and German I prefer Otto’s.

In addition to Otto and German, that people already mentioned, it’s worth checking out Kebab 49 in Etobicoke and Döner G on Wilson Ave.

So I came back from Berlin about a week ago and decided to do a full day of delivery doner kebap:

    Uber Eats for both

    Lunch: Otto’s

    Dinner: GDK

Otto’s: Crap for delivery. They roll the doner and underfill the meat compared to when you go in person. Redeeming qualities are the meat (better veal than GDK’s beef) and currywurst options. Bread isn’t crispy which leads me to believe that either the rolled bread makes the bread soft and/or they don’t grill the bread enough.

GDK: They send the doner out in triangular boxes, mostly preserving the shape and format, which is a huge plus. Nice crisp on the bite with the bread. However, both breads are just too dense compared to actual Berlin doner bread and I miss the airy texture of good doner. Beef is the emulsified spit meat, which I’m not the biggest fan of.

Chicken is a toss-up between both places.

If I had to pick for in-person, I’d still go back to Otto’s. For delivery, GDK 100%.

Honestly, I’d rather make the trip back to Berlin. Not saying these places are disgusting or even bad, but the good Berlin doner places are leagues above.
