Anyone using it? What do you think? They just started in LA so their footprint is rather small, mainly pastry/donut shops at the moment. I’ve tried it out once and it was ok but In SF, you can get full on meals. What are your experiences?

For those that don’t know, Too Good To Go is an app that partners with restaurants to sell their excess inventory at a deep discount rather than just tossing it out at the end of the day. Imagine a pizza shop with left over slices or a coffee shop with left over pastries. They’re essentially loot boxes for food lol. I think it’s a super cool concept but still pretty limited in LA.

Edit: there’s a sub /r/toogoodtogo where you can seem some of the hauls people get in other cities

Edit: I got 6 slices from our local pizza spot for $8 https://i.imgur.com/xmEQ9zj.jpg

I’ve gotten bagels from Hanks but honestly I would rather just buy them fresh…. I got tuna salad, pasta salad, and egg salad from Uncle Paulie’s and that was a good deal. I’m not sure I’d use it regularly but it’s definitely a great concept!

It’s a great idea and I love the concept – I’ve used it a few times and was happy with the pastries and bakery items I got from several coffee shop/cafe locations. I just don’t live or work close enough to any of the participating shops to make it worth it on regular basis, I am usually not able to stop by at the designated times. I was referred to it by someone in NYC where it seems great, I imagine it’s much better in a city with more participation.

I have the app, but never buy anything, cause when I’m in the mood for something, the place is already sold out. Love it in theory though.

I first used it in SF as well and definitely liked it. Have yet to use it down here though!

I’ve had the app for a bit but hadn’t actually bought anything until today. Got a surprise bag from Uncle Paulies for $5. The bag was full of various side salads (potato, macaroni, etc.) and a delicious cookie. While I was there picking it up, I also bought myself a sandwich at full price. I consider my first experience pretty solid.

Next plate is like TooGoodToGo and has more options in greater LA vs TooGoodToGo

I actually just downloaded yesterday and then deleted. Unfortunately there were only 2-3 options near me.
