    If you don’t cut the outer leaves off and only cut the head off, the plant will produce 4 more heads of cabbage. When those 4 heads are the size of a radish, remove 3 of them leaving the best one. It will grow to a new head of cabbage almost as big as the first one. This way you can start eating some of the first cabbage heads sooner when they aren’t fully grown because they will have another head anyway thus greatly extending the harvest season. If your season is long enough try for a third head after harvesting the second head.
