Personal preference (I know, get the pitchforks) but any so called ‘nice‘ sushi place that serves spicy tuna anything is a huge red flag. – went to the Irvine location and had an omakase meal – and as soon as they gave me spicy tuna hand roll, I realized this place wasn’t very authentic (and overpriced for what it is)!and was popular for the decor and vibe for people that like spicy tuna. But I realize lots of people love spicy tuna, and that’s totally fine! (Just not for me-not a fan of day old tuna or frozen tuna scrape mixed with sriracha (come on, it’s not even a Japanese condiment) to cover up any lack of freshness or tastiness)…

I think it’s some of the best sushi in the area, which is always funny to me given it’s marketed as an izakaya.

Osen is great but I always feel like the fish to rice ratio is off. I’d rather them turn each of those pieces into two cause imo the fish cuts are too big
