I got Hoga yesterday! 9.52$ tax in for Bulgogi, rice, japchae and kimchi. Can’t beat that.

Yeah, go to Scarborough. Plenty of great meals under $10

The problem is that since the pandemic, it’s just the husband and wife working. (I think the other 2 who worked there before were there children, but they are no longer there). The line used to be fairly fast, but now it moves at a snail pace, so stopped going. Their menu is much more limited now as well (with just 7 items). It seems that they didn’t get the memo that things are pretty much back to normal, as they still operate in pandemic mode.

I’ve mentioned this place over and over and you all are going to think I work there or something. I don’t. Just an enthusiastic customer. Thirsty Fox on Eglinton West of Bathurst, north side. Dive bar, great food, daily specials. All under $10. Fajitas tonight. Yay!

In any case a restaurant is a business. Businesses need to make a profit on their products or they don’t stay in business. Yes… Paying less is always nice on the pocket. However when it comes to food, the fuel your body needs to operate is the very need of your existence.
So… In any case cheap food… I’d seriously question the quality and source of ingredients.
You wouldn’t put shitty gas in a new car.
I’d rather pay $20 for a meal knowing it’s good fuel for my body. Just my two cents.

  9. OMG so they survived the pandemic. I’m so glad!!!

Yeah, my budget for lunch is more like $5-6

I like Hoga too and it’s good value but it was waaaaay better pre-pandemic and in comparison not all that great now.

Small Jerk at Jerk King still comes in at under $10

Helena’s Magic Kitchen in the Grange food court does grilled chicken, stuffed chicken schnitzels with sides as well

There’s a 2 for 1 Shawarma spot at Bloor and Dufferin that does 2 falafel wraps for $10. The quality is great, a step above Ali Baba’s even.

This carribbean food place called the island in liberty village… I’m so surprised it’s not busier! They’ve got a lunch special under 10 bucks and their bread and BBQ chicken is to die for!

Is this the place that also sells honey? I think they have a farm.

Big time staple when I was working as a messenger.

I see $15 and under as the old $10 and under. Many shawarma and fancy sandwich shops are now charging $12 for their wraps/sandwiches, which ends up around $15 with tax and a small tip. I basically have accepted my cheap meal out is now a $12 food item, $4-$6 iced latter, plus tax and tip= $20-$22.
