Dave’s at the farmers market. Brought it home and threw it in a pan with veggie broth + momofuko chili crunch, on a bed of rice. So good. It makes me feel like I can cook. Ha!

Yeah their tempha is damn good. I have spent a whole lot on that over the years and haven’t really had anything else that’s quite like it.

This stuff is so good, I haven’t had it in forever. I think you’ve influenced me to buy some next week, thank you!

Wow! Where is that stand? I don’t even remember seeing it, but I haven’t been over there for a few years, it’s true. That looks AMAZING and totally worth a trip over there.
EDIT: AHhhhhhhh never mind, I see you meant the actual farmer’s market in Hwd, not the Old Farmers Market. Never mind! I’ll look for it, at, you know, the farmer’s market.

Is it just me or are they quite expensive compared to what you could find at a Korean supermarket? Or is the audience and food unique enough to justify not going to one over the other? I’ve never bothered to buy from their stands because its like Erewhon prices when an Hmart is trader joes

I used to buy their spicy tempeh from the Pasadena Victory Park Farmer’s Market, but it’s been years. Thanks for the reminder.

Their kimchis + sauerkrauts are complete frauds.
They only “ferment” them for a couple of days. The snake oil salesman says the “bubbles show that it is alive!” Nothing could be further from the truth. That is just the initial stage of a proper fermentation while CO2 is gassing off. They are actually dangerous as pressure is still building up in the closed jars. I saw a jar explode at their stand years ago.
There are WAY better kimchis and krauts available and very easy to make yourself.
I can’t stand that guy in the straw hat, he’s a good salesman but a complete liar. Their health standards at glance seem to be sub par, to say the least.
If you’re interested in the science of fermentation I highly recommend checking out Sandor Katz’s first book, then moving on to his second if he gets you hooked.
