Vietnam has a similar dish called Canh Bi basically winter melon soup made with Pork Broth and bits of mince like you pic 🙂

Oooh we make this with ground shrimp and call it canh bau. So comforting.

I’ve had a similar dish in Thailand just called cow tom moo (mu?). Just rice, ground pork soup. It was probably the best breakfast I wouldn’t have ever expected to eat for breakfast.

This reminds me on what my mother prepares for us morning before going to school.
She scooped rice from rice pot, pour vege soup from yesterday leftover, and fish / ikan goreng. Me and my sister would ate before school, give us enough energy for whole day.
