  1. I’ve heard mixed reviews. $195 is michelin star prices so I’m curious what you would compare it to at that price point.

  2. It’s excellent and unless they’ve changed something recently, a staggering amount of food.

In my experience, they are cooking at the 1-star level.

It’s easily my least favorite meal in Austin. Yikes.

Went a few months ago with a chef friend of mine, and he insisted we do the tasting menu. We were sat at 8:30 on a mellow Tuesday night and were held hostage for about 3 hours. We weren’t drinking alcohol, and wasting no time eating each dish.

We were polite and engaged, but clearly tired of the relentless schtick of each course that was served to us. “Whoa, a live fire! We should have had you sign a waiver before you came in!” Cringe.

Some of the serving sizes were laughably small. Two grown men paying $195 each getting a single smoking bowl with 5 thin slices of fish set between them? Our steak course came with a single stupid potato rosette just like in the picture above. We’re supposed to share a tiny little potato for $195 each? Whoever is designing the menu and service has masturbated to NOMA, Asador Extebarri and El Bulli videos just a few too many times. Hard pass.

I actually had this last month. It was great! I wish it was a hair cheaper but if you are into fine dining/Michelin you probably will enjoy regardless. Lots of highlights, staff is great and they put on a good show.

A note: I did get the wine pairing with it. I thought there was a lot of great pairings (even a sake pairing). I just don’t think it’s worth it for the average diner.
