My first attempt at a fryup in the US. I DID manage to find Heinz beans. How did I do?

needed a fried egg, toast looks like it could use some butter but pretty damn good!!!

  2. Nice effort.

Branston beans have taken the baked beans throne in recent years though, much tastier. No idea how feasible it is to get those stateside though.

Not bad. A fried egg would have been better. Maybe some fried bread too, it’s delicious. Branston beans are more popular in the UK now but I don’t know if they’re available state side. 7/10

Everyone here is saying you need a fried egg but I don’t necessarily find that to be true. Either fried, scrambled or poached work well. Good effort

    Nice!

I’m a fan of scrambled eggs, but as the only one in the house that is, I mostly have fried

As a first timer. This is good.

    Tips for future frys:

Do you beans in a pan on the hob untill thick, the consistency is much better and helps with the presentation. Scrambled eggs are fine, its personal choice. A true fry is all done in one pan and an egg fried in the meat juices and oil is a great alternative.

Serve your toast on a seperate plate if possible. keep it crunchy, helps with fry space and presentation. (Again personal preference) Those toms look proper poor, cut in half and fry untill charred. Sausage and bacon look great, maybe consider black pudding going forward, cook it in large chunks, with bacon and on toast / fried bread it tastes bloody great; again, if possible do all in a single pan. Mushrooms ndont really make it on my fry, but if i have to i keep them big and fry them quickly to help with presentation and texture.

What sauce did you use? If you can get your hands on HP Brown sauce in the states treat yourself and pick some up, you wont regret it on a fry.

Again; as a 1st attempt. Solid. This brit scores you 6.5/10. Keep up the fry.

I’ve just paid an extortionate amount for Bush’s beans.

It’s perfectly fine to use those with a fry up imo. Can’t wait for mine to arrive

Looks great, I’d be very happy if I was offered that!

Proper decent attempt. Little bit of advice, put a knob of butter in with the beans bit of pepper then reduce the liquid down a little by simmering. Richens them.

Butter on that bread next time soldier

I see that, like me, you couldn’t resist a nibble before remembering to take the shot 🙂

Excellent job. How did you like the beans? If you like Lee and Perrins a glug of that in the beans works very well.

  12. Decent spread. Need black pudding though and not streaky bacon 🥓😉

    That’s actually pretty good, a solid 8/10.

B + not bad for first attempt, I hope that scrambled egg is cheesy scrambled egg tho if we’re being authentic

Not bad for a yank. needs a fried egg and some black pudding of course

as an American-born daughter of an irishwoman who made great fry ups this is pretty decent. try to order the black pudding online (and white too which I prefer to the black but I love them both)

I would eat everything on this plate but I would have requested an over easy egg and some jelly for the toast – good job 🙂

  17. Artificial-Brain

Not bad at all but it needs black pudding imo.

Pro tip: ignore all advice you get here and make it how you would like to eat it.

Looks all good just don’t forget the butter on your toast! Fried eggs work better than scrambled in my opinion but you’re the one eating. So do what works for you! Enjoy

  20. Actually not bad, you just need more of everything

  21. You don’t have to state that you’re an American, the scrambled egg does that for you.

  22. galaxybubbletea

Good effort for a first try! I’d invest in a bigger plate haha

  23. heartofmarmite

Pretty damn good trooper…me, I like the scram bled eggs…let no-one diss a good scramble.
    Butter that toast though.
    10/10 for a first try.
Next time I’ll deduct 1 point for not buttered toast.
( I’ll accept the black pudding is out of your control)

I feel like you paid $3 for the can of beans. I always get my shipped from the homeland.

    Good effort.

I’m not a fan of the “cook it all in one pan” perspective. Everything ends up greasy and the ingredients lose their individuality. Prefer your approach.

For the beans next time, try stewing them. It’s not necessary, but tastes lovely.

Just cook them low and slow until the sauce thickens, then add a nob of butter and a splash of something tangy (whore sister sauce)

It takes no effort and brings the beans from good to great.
