Okay these berries are delightful, like the kind of thing you would eat on a cheese plate. They aren’t everyday strawberries. My dad bought them for me as a graduation present last year. I think I made some of them in a salad with basil and buffalo burrata. They are amazing plain or in a fresh berry forward dessert like pavlova.
Edit: they are already expensive in California, like $12-15, but the increase in price I assume is because they have to be transported expediently because they aren’t picked early and bred to last forever like most supermarket strawberries

My wife. She buys those things… drives me crazy. They are freaking delicious though. I make sure to scour the fridge regularly after store trips just in case there’s some fresh organic fruit in there. Needs to be eaten quick. So half goes into my belly and half into the kids lunches.

as a cashier at CM sooo many people buy these but about half the people don’t realize the price! normally if they’re buying multiple packs I’ll give them a heads up to make sure they know & most people are grateful & don’t want them anymore but there’s always the few that have no problem spending $80 on berries

Harry’s Berries are famous for being exceptionally good. I would never purchase them, I don’t even really eat much fruit or care for sweet things, but I assume it’s the bespoke nature of them that make them expensive here.

Ripe strawberries from California are nothing like what we get here in Texas in grocery stores. The best strawberries I’ve ever had in the world were from farm fresh berries at California farmer markets. They don’t last long at all, but they’re absolutely out of this world.
I wouldn’t want to pay that much for them, but compared to the tasteless watery Driscoll berries we get here… it’s tempting.

I indeed bought them and they were delicious haha wow I didn’t look at the price when I picked them up though I was in such a rush I totally thought the meat I got must have been pricier than anticipated, definitely not delicious enough to be almost 20$ 😂😂

I live near where these are grown, and they are absolutely incredible. When you drive down the highway near the fields, you are assaulted by the intoxicating aroma of fresh, bold berry. I’ve worked at Michelin level restaurants, and our pastry chefs used these exclusively for our desserts. And with all that said, holy shit, they are expensive!

As a Sous chef who can get these from slightly closer ( san diego) harrys are indeed the shit, consistant texture color and flavor. even from our specialty produce company they are 8$ for the small square baskets. are they worth it for day to day ? probably not unless youre making 250k a year

Coming from that area, those are probably some of the better tasting strawberries that one can get; anything from the Central Coast area. Is chalk the cost up to shipping. But also, I feel like I saw some from CC at Trader Joe’s a while back. They were maybe closer to $10, but still worth it, to me at least.

Strawberries these days are grown for ease of transport and longetivity hense why they are full of air and tasteless. If these taste good and are sweeter than the usual crap I’m in! In hawaii I used to get japanese strawberries at $5 each. They are grown for flavor and are amazing.

I’ve heard these described as the Rolls Royce of strawberries. Apparently they’re amazing. I’d say they’re a very occasional splurge if you’re someone who really likes fresh produce.
