I really liked Dave’s Hot Chicken, not super noteworthy but still probably the best local chain that came out of the pandemic-era hot chicken craze. Not all that spicy but some really interesting flavors – most notably a prominent cinnamon punch.

I made the mistake of getting the two slider combo for myself the first time I went, and it was a struggle to finish both. Love Dave’s though, but yeah the combo is a meal you gotta split with someone.

My issue with Dave’s is it’s painfully location dependent. I’ve been a total of 5 times at 4 different locations 2 of them being horrible, 1 being just okay, and 1 being good. I think if you visit a good location its some solid hot chicken still doesn’t rival howlin rays, but it’s much more accessible.

Really surprised at the hate here. The location on Fairfax near Beverly is consistently great. I’ve heard a lot about Howlin Rays but it’s awfully far and I’m never over there.

Which spice level did you get? Looks like mild or no spice based on lack of red coloring. The daves hot chicken reaper is very spicy. Its almost as spicy as a mid level Howlin Rays sandwich. 100% serious
