Hi! I have made Bravetart’s rolled sugar cookie recipe a few times (https://www.seriouseats.com/rolled-sugar-cookie-recipe), and have always loved how it turns out texture wise. However, I cannot get past the coconut taste. I guess I like my sugar cookies to taste like butter, and these always have a coconut taste to me because of the coconut oil. Has anyone tried to just sub an equal amount of butter in for the coconut oil? Or have you found a brand of coconut oil that is truly flavorless? Thank you!

Are you using extra virgin or refined coconut oil? Refined shouldn’t taste like coconut.
In the article she talks about the benefits of coconut oil, so swapping for butter would reverse all of those.
I have not made that recipe, but I have made others where I’ve subbed in coconut oil for butter (for a couple recipes where I want the coconut flavor) and it’s worked well for those. When I’ve don’t it, it’s been an equal substitution.
Any refined coconut oil will have no coconut taste. Key word is refined!
I get this brand on amazon but honestly they are all the same so long as they are refined
