My personal favorite ice cream spot is Handel’s specifically the Redondo Beach location. This is a “single scoop” of their Midnight Madness which is a dark chocolate ice cream with fat chunks of oreos and globs of peanut butter. This location never fails on giving a fat scoop and it’s always just so good.

I went there last night a little after 9PM for a hot fudge sundae and the bastards were closed! Supposed to be open to 10 PM, according to the sign in the window.

Reading the ingredients will change your opinions on the place. Some of the most unnecessary garbage in ice cream anywhere.

Wasn’t a big fan of this place. Super sweet ice cream. If you get a chance try fosselman’s in alhambra.

Handel’s is so good. I like to get a 4 scoop sampler in the interest of trying as many flavors as possible.

I love Handels! When I was a nanny I use to take the kids there and walk to the beach.

I worked there for like three days because they barely gave me any training and just threw me in there to figure out the cashiering.

I’ve been to two locations and it’s not much of a pull for me. It’s average chain store Ice Cream and if I’m going to a store near one I’ll stop by but I’m not going out of my way to hit one. I did love their Pina Colada ice.
Beyond the ingredient list (and I’m not that much of a purists but still…) I’m not fond of not being able to see the ice cream tub they are serving from. That could be a nasty mess or old but we’d never know. At least at Baskin Robbins or Thrifty’s you can see what you are getting before you get it.
However, it is all waaay better than “The Creamery”. That “ice cream” is at best, trash.
Pop’s is good, handmade, but they don’t use natural vanilla and they use too much to the point of it tasting perfumey.
Obligatory shout out to Fosselman’s.
I WILL drive out of my way for Carmela’s. It’s all natural and hand made, with some great flavors. Also, they have ice cream making classes.
