Sad to hear this. He’s a nice guy. Seems like the place was blowing up

Well, I’ll be there tomorrow to grab a final slice. RIP Paper Route but best of luck to Aaron for whatever comes next

Shame, always loved their slices and planned to get a whole cake at some point!
Wonder how much of this has to do with the location cost and logistics. Seemed like there was frequently things going wrong and it can’t be cheap to be located there. Or maybe it was and that barely part of it! But it does feel like things would be more stable further out somewhere with more space for cheaper, especially now that they have some name recognition.

Seems like coming out of the C years into inflation is really finishing off the independent business model. Especially good food.

I had the coffee Fox for my birthday this year, it was the best cake I’ve ever had!!

Thanks so much for posting OP. This place has been on my list for so long and thought I had more time 🥲

Sad to hear he is SO generous! But it seems he wants to move on to other challenges and adventures.

Best cake I’ve ever had. Whatever he does next, I wish him all the success in the world! We will miss a true gem of a bakery. Rare to find something so utterly delightful in this world

As I said in the other thread: Holy ****
Shocking short notice, really sad.

My heart is broken. ;.; I hope he gets into baking in some form or another again.

Such a loss for Austin, but I can’t help but feel happy because Aaron is doing what he needs to do 👌 he’s an awesome guy and I wish him luck in his next adventure! I’m sure whatever it is, he’ll kill it.

Never tried it altho I meant to do so, won’t miss it as much as the pink cake at La Mexicana. Baking is brutal hours and work, seems like the owner achieved well and wants to check out other things, can’t really fault him for that. Sucks for his fans.

So sad to see another Austin bakery closing 🙁

Lonnnnggg line today. And the first group of people left with 10 bags of slices 😐
ATXbunnie
We showed up at 10:00am and waited in line. When it opened at 11:00, the policy was a 16 item maximum, which was lowered to 4 items by the time we got to the window at 11:50. The line was down the block and wrapped around the corner when we left, so I would guess they will run out before the end of the line or closing. Unfortunately, there were folks who were definitely cutting, i.e. meeting their friends/spot holders close to opening time, and then purchasing the maximum amount of items (yeah, I’m talking to you two idiot manbuns). One of these entitled a*hole manbun line-cutters also bought the maximum 6 items, including a full cake.
I’m so sorry if you waited in line in the brutal sun and didn’t get anything. 🙁
RIP to the best bakery in Austin. Good luck, Aaron, in the next step of your journey!
