Hello! I’m an east coast transplant who’s been looking for Chinese takeout that’s more east coast style – pork fried egg rolls, boneless spare ribs, lo mein. There’s been a few places in OC that I’ve tried that are more similar to Panda Express knockoffs than anything else, but was wondering if you guys were aware of any specific restaurants that might cater to more East coast takeout Chinese style?
I haven’t been able to find anything similar to East coast egg rolls or boneless spare ribs. The ribs here I’ve tried are usually more on the dry side and don’t have much of a marinade? [Here’s a pic of my favorite boneless spare ribs from the east coast](https://ibb.co/NYh756V) for reference too. Any suggestions welcome for SGV, OC or even LA area!

Fu’s Palace in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood is a stand by in this format. They do the pork spare ribs, the egg rolls, the wor wonton soup, the lo mein, etc. It is not a carbon copy of Great New York Noodletown or whatever spot you have in mind but it is cut from the same cloth. They know they cater to New Yorkers.
Are you looking for nyc’s Christy/Hester pork or like Big Wong type pork? Honestly sgv’s pork disappoints me because most of them just sit in this tub of sauce and taste like cheap Chinese takeout.
Following with INTEREST as I’ve been here for 7 years and haven’t really found east coast chinese takeout style. Like, seriously, every month or so in my household we try the search again, usually in vain.
For egg rolls, Genghis Cohen in Fairfax is the only place that’s come close to an east-coast style, but they are a bit expensive. Their lo mein doesn’t stack up unfortunately. I also have found that some typical takeout dishes more or less can be found (the General Tso’s at Szechuan Place in Northridge is surprisingly good, for example), but it’s a crapshoot.
This isn’t OC, but [this](https://www.yelp.com/biz/pauls-kitchen-los-angeles) place is pretty solid if you’re in LA.
Grandview Palace in Pasadena has the pork egg rolls. They have decent BBQ pork but not boneless ribs.
If anyone has any reqs in the valley post them here as well. Mover from the East coast a year ago and all of the take out Chinese is awful. Specifically the egg rolls and dumplings, and not having lo mein or general Tsos chicken.
Argh, my gf from NJ was looking for this too and I found a place and ordered take out and she was satisfied! Now I can’t remember the name
[Fu Sing](https://www.yelp.com/biz/fu-sing-torrance) in Torrance is close to that style of food, but it’s not close to the area you’re looking for (and it’s also takeout-only).

I think you want China town Chinese food
I think you’re out of luck. This type of cuisine is even aging out in NYC. So it would be even rarer to find in LA. SGV would be the last place it look because the large asian population don’t really eat this.
