I have been going to Iqbal Halal foods in the area for a long time (6 years in Midtown) but only recently discovered this little plaza just down the street from it, where Mandi Afandi is located. It’s such a hidden gem of a plaza for Pakistani/Afghan/Arabian food! Even has a Hakka restaurant thrown in. Had a nice Father’s Day lunch with the family at Mandi Afandi, grabbed some freshly baked flatbread from Mama Bakery across the parking lot, then grabbed some kebabs for dinner from Afghan Cuisine.
I strongly believe that the secret to eating out good for cheap in Toronto is to find these immigrant enclaves such as Thorncliffe Park, Lawrence/Pharmacy, Little Tibet etc.
Edited to add: This was 17.99, and comes with a side of lentil soup. The kind waitress even added an extra bowl of soup (baby perks I guess?). It’s enough to feed 2 adults. Also go some beef samosas on the side, not pictured.

Great place, one of my go to’s this year. Love that they highlight some other great middle eastern rice dishes. My favs are haneeth and zurbian. Monasaba has a lot better mandi though imo. There is an afghani place near Iqbal that I’ve been curious to try too.

17.99 isn’t cheap, I’ll go get chinese food for $8 instead
