Yes, I bought the kit for the clever marketing/instructions on the back. This chili turned out great, so thought I’d share the details:
Browned 2 lbs lean ground meat in a large skillet, sautéed a chopped onion and chopped garlic in the same pan, mixed the seasonings in 1 cup of water and poured that in/let those come together for about 5 mins in the pan. Tossed it all in the crockpot with 1 large can of diced tomatoes, probably a cup of RAO marinara sauce because I was out of tomato sauce, a small can of diced green chilis, a drained can of red kidney beans, and a drained can of black beans. Stirred it all together and set the crockpot for 6 hours on low.
When there were about 10 mins left, I made the corn masa slurry with probably 3/4 cups water and added it to the mix. Someone suggested using the crockpot juice for the slurry and will do that next time. It turned out great!
Fritos, sour cream, shredded cheese, chopped onion tops all good fixin’s (said in Stevie from Eastbound’s voice). Thanks to all who helped me figure out the thickening situation!
First post here—hope I did it right!
