Dropped in to Yamas on its grand opening night. It’s near Mopac/2222, on Balcones just down the road from Chez Zee. Space used to be Westwood Gastropub but I think it’s been vacant since early in the pandemic.

It’s full of life now, such a lively costal Greek style dining room and bar. Saw big party dinners happening, fancy dates, people sharing food at the bar. Lots of beautiful women, too. I’m shocked an upscale neighborhood place is keeping hours so late. Currently the kitchen serves until 11pm, boss says bar stays open later on weekends as needed. Awesome to have the good food late at night option.

I’m trying to eat light, so my main dish was the Mediterranean Linguine. Probably the best value pick on the menu at $22. Feta, olives, fresh made pasta, solid seasoning and not too salty, all good stuff. With appetizers it would be enough pasta for two people to spilt. What I couldn’t finish tasted great as lunch the next day.

Also had a Spanakopita the size of a plate and a beautiful mixed beet salad.

Still a lot I’d like to try. Staff says all the seafood is a hot seller, sardines are so popular they’re barley able to keep in stock.

Specialty cocktails are $17 across the board. I had a couple so smooth and flavorful I could have taken them as extra large shots but I kept it classy and nursed them.

One of the owners said they live a few blocks from the restaurant and are there all the time. Good luck to them, they’re off to a good start!

Looks great, will try it , thanks for sharing the good news OP

Edit: wow after reading Google map reviews I don’t know if I can go anymore…with a young child, I would not want to go to a restaurant when the music is too loud or meh customer service…
