We are experiencing excessive heat. Very few crops will continue to prosper. We are beginning to plan for our fall planting. We do not see any relief in sight. What are you experiencing in your area?

  1. It seems like the seasons are a month to two months earlier, June is like August and December last year was like January or February! 😲😲😲

  2. Please watch the heat, this weather has been strange for sure. Have you had rain lately that should help. ❤ where is the high tunnel, I'm new here!

  3. We put a mister on our coop. So far they like it. Keeps the air and the soil cool. I’m getting 3-5 eggs a day from 7 chickens. I’m already sick of summer and it just got started. Not to mention Texas power grid is struggling.

  4. Do you ever get spider mites. I have them in my greenhouse and spend my day yelling and spraying soapy water. Lol. Maybe try some row covers in the high tunnel for cabbage, kale, etc. keeps the bugs at bay.

  5. El Nino should hit Texas in August / September so not yet. I'm in SE Tx and it is HOT. I'm just trying to keep things alive right now, not even thinking about harvest. But my roses are LOVING the heat and blooming profusely so I will enjoy that blessing!

  6. Just praying for you and all those in Texas . PRAYING for cooler weather to give you a break. Thanks for being an example of endurance through hard times.

  7. I would use the high tunnel for starting tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets then take them outside under shade cloth that you only use for when it's super hot…you can get it down to 40%….put it up as needed. Way more fans in the high tunnels use them 24 hours a day to get that moisture out and the airflow to dry out the high tunnel a bit… this is a tough year with the storms coming from Africa. Get some solar power to use for the fans/heaters in the high tunnels…❤❤❤

  8. Pets to Mr. Hank, what a sweet face. Heart goes out to those struggling in this heat without their power!!🥵 It's a given on your channel but it's great y'all include teaching the importance of taking precautions in extreme heat. Like Greg, my hubby's workday can be outside all day, and HYDRATION is crucial!! Especially before and after working in these extremes. That pool will be some welcome relief!! 👍 Definitely with ya on the grace to be spared those brutal hail storms so far and they have come pret-ty close! 🥰

  9. Hi Jill and Greg, Happy Saturday and thanking God for another day despite the heat we forge forward knowing "God's Got Us" I love what the Farm is producing and that chicken coop is awesome and you said that "the girls are only laying three eggs a day" it shows that God is in everything and He speaks because three signifies the Trinity Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and it also is confirmation that you will never go without and you are an amazing example for others that to never, never give up because the end result is always beautiful (give us this day our daily bread) amen. That pool looks so refreshing and dipping in to cool off is a blessing. I will continue to pray for you and others who are experiencing the heat. As you always say "It is well with my Soul. God Bless!!!! ❤🙏🥒🫑🌶🍅

  10. My 1st thought was oh hot water lol maybe a tent over the pool to keep it from boiling? So glad to have found you. Your plain logical talk.n same zone r helpful. Be well

  11. Have you tried spraying with Organic Neem Oil, Dish soap – Dr Bonners suggested and water? I also saw a video to chop up garlic onions and hot peppers of all types and boil a gallon of water and throw in all the chopped stuff and strain it, let it cool down and put in a handheld sprayer. The bugs don't like either option and it's all Organic 😊

  12. I just moved to a new place, about an acre and there are Ants of all types everywhere and I want to grow food of course and buy some smaller container fruit trees but I have to fix the bug problems 1st so I'm going to trying the methods below I suggested! There are also Armadillos living here as well yippy, so I have to buy some no dig fence guard inserts. I'm going to grow in above ground containers on the deck and the deck wraps all around the house. Oh and a big 2 level pretty Koy pond with waterfall with a pretty big turtle. I feed the fish every other day and he or she greets me at the water's edge. They say if you get rid of the Aphid problems you can kill the Ants, because Aphids leave a Sugar trail behind when they eat that the Ants are attracted to.

  13. Your stand looks fantastic! Lima beans, okra, peppers, cow peas, and field peas such as pink eye and black eye will do well in the heat and slight drought.

  14. I could only manage a few containers this year. First “garden” in over 6 years. I have some little pear tomatoes that are ripening. Also some cherrys. Have 4 pepper plants that are producing. Now I’m motivated to try some fall things

  15. I have pulled out my veggies for this season. To hot. Our index has been 112. Gulf Coast Texas. I am now planning my fall garden.

  16. hello , what is your opinion on taste difference between white eggs and brown eggs? my guess you most likely have both. hope your farm gets many breaks this season with the heat. stay safe and play always.

  17. Thank God for everything that is doing well! I do believe that whatever we thank God for – those things improve . If you have anything in that high tunnel in a large container ( I can't see in the video ) can you pull those items out of the High Tunnel on a cart?
Maybe use the High Tunnel during Non-Heat Wave months like Fall, Winter, Spring gardens.
I love beets cooked then chilled with fresh lemon juice ! It is almost like a desert.
Read the Farmers's Almanac for your Zone in Texas for this Fall ! and judge for yourself how accurate it is. I think they may have a telephone number if people have questions. Get a floor standing dehumidifyer and your kitchen window A/C will work fantastic. I would run it at night ( save electricity ) and it will improve the air quality indoors tremedously.

Also, I do not believe that God controls the weather per say because the Bible says the Satan is the god of this world !
I believe that when this planet was created it got the Sun and Moon and Stars above which somehow controls the Seasons ( Gensis chapter 1) on each hemisphere and these systems are somewhat automatic /predictable systems for each season . That said, I believe that our weather can be manipulated by some technology intentionallly by governments. That said , Jesus spoke to the dangerous weather system. And his desciples were amazed that the even the Wind obeyed him ! Words have power.

So, I try to sing the positive weather report I want in my area of the country and yes, God does answer my prayers. We had those chem trails non stop, daily, all winter long. I have a postive prayer " to ban those things" and so far so good.

Warning : Never, Never complain about the bad weather predicted by weather reports …. but, Do Preemptively Thank God inadvance for 80 degree temperatures with gentle rainfall !

As the scripture does say: Men ought to pray and not Faint!
Last Christmas 2022 we had a demonic blizzard ( predicted ) just over lake Erie and surrounding Buffalo NY that was deadly and sounded like Jets from a Top Gun movie loud , Non Stop for 3 days over head . It was unreal! On Sunday evening I had had enough of that blizzard and I prayed that it would " cease and desist in its manuvers against my neighborhood and I commanded peace and quiet at the sound of my voice ( That I sang calmly) in the Name of The Lord Jesus Christ" . By 11:00 pm Sunday night it was silent and peaceful so that I could get some sleep.

Pray " Only the weather report you desire" . You can Not say out loud :" I do not want this or that" . Your prayers must be in the Affirmative and try to use your God given Imagination by remember days when it was only 80 degrees with gentle rains.

Remember how good it would feel this summer with only 80 degrees surrounding your property.
From my experience most worried thoughts come from those in the Media
to program worry into our God given Imaginations and our Subconscious mind.
Now of course we need God's wisdom everyday.

But what would Jesus calmly pray for you ?
" I thank my Heavenly Father for my friend Jill and I thank God for 😯 degrees , gentle breezes with gentle rains over her property this Summer of 2023 in the name of the lord Jesus Christ".

** Never Speak the weather report that the god of this world- tempts us all – to repeat out loud using our words !!!
and that God- given imagination !
Satan wants us to curse our future with our own words.
If you don't want bad weather do not talk it into existence . They alawys say " There is a chance of this weather or that weather.
Leave nothing to chance. Keep your thoughts of only the best weather over your neighborhood !
Pay attention: ( Mute the TV) The weather people these days do not look sad or worried when delievering scary weather reports.
At least that is the case where I live.

Thank God all day long for all his numerous Blessings and Resist the real Temptation to worry.
That is the reason Worry can be called a Sin in the scripture. It interferes with our Faith in imagining the goodness of God .

For the sake of all your animals : Only sing to your animals how grateful you are for the cooling down of the temperature surrounding your property !
Sending Good Weather wishes for you and others.
Resist the Temptation to fear and worry.
That takes practice. Here in the USA we definitely have Biblical weather !
Schedule Time in the day to something Fun that you would enjoy ( without a cellphone or TV)
Select a day that you can disconnect from all media. A real day of rest from depressing news.
I remember how productive I was before I owned a cellphone!
I lived overseas and No one worried about me !!! Lol
By the way we had a Tornado take out a huge Maple trees that had to weigh Tons in that crazy Blizzard of Christmas 2022. My neighbor was amazed that it was snaped in two , like a twig, at its base -with all roots firmly in the ground. I told him that his angels were guarding over his house ! The tree fell toward the road instead of crashing down on his roof.
He smiled and felt great !

Sending you love and appreciation for all your hard work and wonderful garden.
Would Olive Trees grow where you live ? What about grapes ? Think Long term .
This is the Day that the Lord hath made ! Let us Rejoice and be glad in it !
I sing this every moning when I walk my dog ! I am alone with God and my dog.
He hears me singing with those morning birds placing my weather request for the day singing:
Let the Heavens Declare the Glory of the lord with blue skies , sunshine and fresh air which we need up North .
So far so good. I also thank God for when it does rain.
Our last 3 winters have been very strangely dark and very depressing and prayer
helps a lot to lift the depressive mood in NY State.
    I hope this helps.

  18. Freeze water in milk jugs. Put in a pan and point a fan on them. This will cool ypur chickens in a crisis. Also works in the house. We call that poor man's air conditioning

  19. Hi there just tuned in to your channel enjoy your content will look forward to next video will
Pray for cooler temps be safe!!

  20. Have you given any thought of growing citrus trees in your high tunnels? Maybe some orange and lemon dwarf varieties? Just a thought my friend! Stay safe in this heat!

  21. Girl, you need to plant that field with brassicas! Cabbage, broccoli, etc. should do SUPER well if you mow the peas, and not pull them! I do NOT pull my peas! Always mow them to refeed the soil.

  22. Hi I live in Florida and it's hot here but not nearly as hot as you guys are. It's in the 90. I hope your fall crop does good. Is there anything you can do with those high tunnels? Like use a different material or something? I know when I was growing in Illinois we grew tomatoes 🍅 until the fall started seemed like those plants lasted forever back then. Of course we didn't have hot Temps like we do today. It got hot but not hot hot. That wasn't until August. Man how this Earth has changed. Well when I was young expressway 74 was just being built too. It blows your mind how things have changed. Tomatoes look really good 👍. Wish I could have one! Make some tomatoe juice 😋. God bless you 🙏. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸.

  23. The tomato plants are struggling. Corn 🌽 was bad. I thought I gave it enough water and nitrogen. Produced very small ears.

  24. FREEZE JUGS OF WATER. PUT THEM BY YOUR ANIMALS. I do that for my bunnies when it's too hot for them. ***it real)y helps, they lay next to it and are much more comfortable.

  25. Our county is really dry–we're in an "extreme drought" area. I'm spending all my time watering our garden and the younger fruit trees. At least we don't have to mow grass.

  26. Glad for what's doing well. We have all this coming week above 100. I truly believe that they are messing with our weather!!! Yesterday I got 2 qts and 4 pints of tomatoes from Shiloh, where I volunteer. They always make sure volunteers get produce, so I can mine. Even if it's just 2 pints of carrots!! Peppers are coming in so I'll do hot peppers and maybe more cowboy candy as I'm able to get. I'm so very thankful. Sometimes I'm sure my gift has to be worth 15 or 20 dollars!! That's wonderful gift to a volunteer, especially anyone who cans. God is Good, I thank Him everyday and pray for our country. Those in charge are killing us and destroying our country. Thank you, Jill, for being a guide to us and for your great advice and wonderful videos. Stay cool. Much love, and God bless!!

  27. I haven’t followed your channel for very long. Do you sell your veggies, I noticed you said you had the market set up, I would love to buy some if you sell them. Where are you in north Texas?

  28. Stay hydrated! I have a shade cover over my tomatoes as they finish their ripening and the cucumbers, which are still setting fruit. New tomato seeds started yesterday, cucumber starts are about 2 inches high. I am going to put out some more bean seeds today. I am really disappointed in my okra this year. I moved it to a new location this year that I thought they would thrive in, but they are only about a foot tall. I picked a few pods this week, but normally by July 1 I have a massive daily harvest. I am going to give em a nutrient boost and hopefully that will kick them in gear. I suggest eggplant in the high tunnel – aphids don't bother it much so you just have to deal with the mites, I spray with neem/orange oil (fertilome 3-1) every few weeks which kills aphids too if you start early enough. Eggplant is so versatile and just roasted with olive oil and garlic is delicious! Can also be used to "bulk up" dishes so you don't have to use as much meat.

  29. I’m in east Texas so I follow your lead with the garden. I am so jealous of your beautiful crops! I had to pull the zucchini because of the stupid squash bugs. I have my cukes in a raised bed and trying to keep them shaded. But the cherry tomatoes? Holy macaroni! I am over run with them and need to find uses for them. So glad the storms didn’t get you.

  30. Here in the Mid Cities, my tomatoes are done. I only have a small urban garden, but I did manage to can some tomatoes before the heat stopped production (I planted them late February this year). So I'll tear out the tomatoes this week and get my sweet potato slips planted. I find they do well in the heat and make a decent second crop. I gave up on a second tomato harvest last year when we had 90 degree days all the way into October. Egg plants seem to like the heat okay. Nice to see your melons. I have no luck with them at all. Beetles kill them every year.
