  1. How long did it take for them to get your food out? When I went back in December, it took an hour for my half-duck.

LOL how much does each of these tacos cost?

    Pardon me??

Edit: oh god I just saw the sarcasm tag. You can’t be doing that to me, man.

  4. PolarBearLaFlare

Too bad you have to reserve that dish 3 weeks ahead lol

There are some dudes rollin’ in here TRIGGERED by this post. Well done OP, I need to go get some Bamboo House tacos.

You should check out the cornmeal chun bing wraps at Taquería Los Jalisciences.

Bamboo House is the best of the best. The duck is fantastic, the other dishes are excellent. I especially love the Sichuan peppercorn laden fish with sauerkraut or beef with sauerkraut dishes and how it’s huge, and then they turn the thin metal serving dish into a sealed to-go container. Sauerkraut=preserved Chinese vegetables (I don’t think it’s just cabbage) and is what they’re calling it on the menu, I’m not just being facetious because of the chun bing/tortilla thing.

Relatedly, best Peking Duck in Austin is HEB rotiss. chicken, wrapped in HEB tortilla, with scallion slices and splash of hoisin sauce.

(Srsly tho, try it, it’s a damned close copy.)

Sorry… a thin pancake or a crepe wrapped around some meat isn’t a taco….I admit I’m a traditionalist and a purist when it comes to these kinds of things…I don’t even consider flour tortillas real tortillas…”If it ain’t corn it earns my scorn.”

Imagine what that duck’s ghost is thinking about pic 2

My favorite place to eat overseas serves this as “Peking Duck Pancakes”, does it have the same name on this menu? Sugar sauce like hoisin and duck is legit.

    Haha! Don’t worry, I won’t play with your taco-loving heart again! 😄🌮

  12. HoboHash

How dare you! That is offensive to Italian people. It is clearly a pizza

I have been there twice to get the duck… one time they ran out on the table right in front of us, the second, their machine was broken. I want it so bad but can’t bring myself to get heartbroken again.

By the same token, Julie’s noodle also has the best beef burrito

It’s perfect. Rich and adding that sugar in the skin really add a great texture and taste dynamic.

Beijing Duck aka Peking Duck is a long time Chinese classic fancy dish. Congratulations Austin for getting it.

    Enjoy

  17. ATX_NOT_FOR_US

This is literally the first authentic Peking Duck that has ever been available in Austin.

  18. rockstarK9

Shhhhhhhh, don’t let the secret of the duck out!

  19. awesomeCNese
