When I came into Khon Thai today at noon a private event was wrapping up.

Several Buddhist monks from Del Valle (maybe from Wat Buddhananachat?) were there to bless the restaurant. Turns out today is the restaurants ceremonial grand opening, after about a month long soft open.

The monks were leaving when I arrived so I missed the photo op. But thereโ€™s more to come. This evening thereโ€™s a Thai dance performance scheduled at 6:00. Theyโ€™re very close to capacity with RSVPs. Hereโ€™s an Instagram post with more details if anyoneโ€™s looking to slide in. https://www.instagram.com/p/CuBC6cDtu_X/

The food is reasonably priced for its quality. Had the Khon Rolls ($7), Pad Kee Mao w/chicken ($14), and iced Thai Green Tea ($5).

Pad Kee Mao is my go to at most Thai places. The noodles were firm and spicy, some crisp green beans stood out. Very satisfying, took almost half of what was left to go.

Theyโ€™ve got a good selection of non-alcoholic, hand shaken beverages as well as beer & wine.

The bar gifted me a slice of Coconut Cake. Itโ€™s delicious, light and sweet.

The restaurant is in the spot where Sapโ€™s used to be on Burnet Road in the corner of HEB shopping center. Might have to come back tonight for the dancing!

I went today as well! The Khao Soi was incredible. I was in northern Thailand a few months ago and fell in love with the dish…this was way better than I ever thought I would find in Austin.
