If you haven’t visited The Golden Diner—it’s kind of on the Southeast end of Chinatown, right near the Manhattan Bridge—I’d highly recommend you go.
I went there over the weekend, and I was honestly kind of blown away. It’s a small place, but they really do a lot to make the space cozy, and I feel like while they were definitely catering to an upscale younger Manhattanite crowd, it still had a familiar and comfortable air to it.
The food was also incredibly. I had one of their breakfast sandwiches, and it was killer, though the best item by far was the green tea cake. **Please if you do nothing else in the next week, go to the Golden Diner, if only for the green tea cake.**
I wrote up a little review about them, feel free to check it out: [https://thecosmokid.com/2023/07/11/the-golden-diner/](https://thecosmokid.com/2023/07/11/the-golden-diner/)
Otherwise, go, go, go to the Golden Diner. You won’t regret it.

Wow, it’s down the street from New York Mart too. The fruit they sell is out of this world.
I just went there for the first time over the weekend. Husband was craving a simple omelet while I went for the burger (it was like 3pm).
Holy moly that burger blew my socks off. The sauce (gochujang sauce with mushrooms) really complimented the burger well. It was super rich so I couldn’t finish it in one sitting, but it was divine. My husbands omelet was perfectly executed. Fries were excellent too. Had the yuzu palmer cocktail which was delightful. Really wanted to try the Thai tres leches but I was WAY too full.
We live in Astoria and almost never go out to brunch because 1. it’s sooo overpriced and 2. and I pretty good cook, so I can’t justify spending the money unless I’m getting something a little different that maybe I can’t make (or reallllly don’t feel like it). And it really wasn’t badly priced, all things considered (it was cheaper than a lot of places in Astoria which surprised me). This was so worth it.
I fucking love this place
