This week, we’re featuring **Greenpoint**!
Some optional prompts:
* What are some of your favorite food spots or “hidden gems”?
* Any “must have” or go to dishes from those particular spots?
* Are there any points of interest or events that is worth going out of the way to visit?
We’re going by this unofficial [Google Map overlay](https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1VYN-6Vkk01byUCF7P13rT6ORT5g) as a GENERAL outline as to what the neighborhoods are. It’s not a strict requirement but try not to go too far outside of the boundaries.

NYtimes ([Webarchive/Paywall link](https://web.archive.org/web/20230210083831/https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/03/nyregion/little-tokyo-brooklyn.html)) wrote a pretty good article on Greenpoint having a “Little Tokyo” back in February.
One of the places they mentioned was [Dashi Okume](https://goo.gl/maps/1LUnUHEtnyun8WE78). Apparently they’re a spot that specializes in dashi and lets you customize/make your own.
I haven’t been there but it sounds super cool. To be fair, I probably don’t know enough about dashi to know how to customize it lol. The only dashi I’ve ever used/tasted is the ones from Hondashi.
Compton’s and Stretto both have some of the best sandwiches in all of NYC
Bar Americano
* **Moe’s Doughs** for cake doughnuts, especially their pistachio one
* **Achilles Heel**
* **Ovenly** for their amazing blackout chocolate cake and the molasses cookies
**edit:**
I forgot **Paulie Gee’s**. I often crave that hellboy squared slice. SOO good
Yaki onigiri at rule of thirds (but really any of the grilled skewers)
Vanilla soft serve w (real) maraschino cherries and pistachios at softside
Celtuce salad at wen wen
Tomato focaccia at Radio Bakery
Pancakes at chez ma tante
I lived in Greenpoint for 6 years and I still really miss Upright Coffee. Bonus, it’s right next to Sunshine Laundromat, my favorite bar/laundromat.
Sama street- Asian cocktail bar with small plates
Hidden Pearl- Tropical japanese cocktails with small plates
Di an Di- Vietnamese food
Frankels- jewish deli
Love Fulgrances for showcasing up and coming chefs.
Oh damn, we’re jumping all the way from the bottom to the top of the borough, huh? So many favorite spots in Greenpoint:
* Peter Pan is still the GOAT for donuts and breakfast.
* Moonlight Mile is a great whiskey bar. Haven’t been there in a minute, but I hope they still have their raggedy old jukebox.
* Paulie Gee’s. Does the man, the myth, the legend even need any introduction at this point?
* Taqueria Ramirez is worth the wait, but the smart move is to get there early.
* Skyline Drive-In generally has pretty good programming. BYO-whatever, and you can’t beat the views on a nice summer night.
* A Bar is the kind of cozy shithole that Brooklyn doesn’t have nearly enough of anymore.
* Is it possible to pick a best Polish place? Pierozek might have the edge.
Sama street makes great cocktails and has really good food too. Huge fan of the beef tartare
UBar for omakase
Cafe Pueblo Querido for Colombian baked treats
Cafe Alula for great Mediterranean salads
Di and Di for beef and chicken pho
Fornino and Salsa for Neapolitan pizza
Rule of thirds for izakaya
Nura for great Indian inspired American food and cocktails (brunch is delightful)
Ramirez for tacos
Fulgurances for upcoming chefs
Litteneck outpost for a great brekkie sandwich
Hana brewery for soju
Little tiffin for thai (get the noodles)
Chiko for an amazing mapu tofu with beef
Baoburg’s pho — I miss it so much.
Unfortunately, the days of things being “hidden” in Greenpoint are gone.
The Brew Inn for incredible burgers— I first heard about it on Reddit, too!
Cookies and arancini at Archestratus Books
Espresso at Eleva
Pancakes at Chez ma tante
Brown butter cornbread at Radio Bakery
Bread basket at Nura
Regular slices at Upside Pizza
this thread reminds why I love this neighbourhood so much
Pelicana chicken wings with their level 1 (kindergarten) sweet and spicy sauce is sooo gooood. As someone who can’t eat super spicy food the spiciness hit the right spot.
MADRE!
Tørst is one of the best beer bars in Brooklyn.
Lite bites has the best breakfast hashwich
-U Omakase, truly an incredible experience
-taqueria Ramirez, great tacos, line moves quickly
-Di an Di, super yummy
-paulie gees, delicious slices
Rolo
Why is almost nobody mentioning any Polish places?
Periozek.
Karczma is great; the zurek there rivals what you get in Poland and is almost a meal in and of itself
The Palace has a burger that is incredible for what the place is and what it costs. This is legit Intel.
glasserie!!
