I got a few Sicilian pies with coworkers from Spumoni Gardens. It was good, but I think the zeitgeist is moving toward New Haven-style, thanks to Dave Portnoy. He has the cred to sway how all of society views pizza.

  2. They changed management almost a decade ago and the slices haven’t been the same since.

Not a fan. Though I did think it was a lot better reheated the next day. Still not a fan though.

    Did you eat it cold?

I agree it’s overrated, but it’s still gotta nice crispy crust

  5. I find it better when I order a fresh whole tray

  6. I hear what everyone had to say about management and change but this is such a niche slice. Between the corner, side and middle slices it might as well be different pizzas. Btw you can let them know which ones you want.

This is the funniest way I’ve ever seen this described. Used to be baller, hot and fresh out of the oven but I haven’t had it in maybe 6 years.

I think of it as a different food (than pizza) and then it’s ok. Plus: people watching and spumoni

i thought it was disappointing that we ordered a whole pie (dining in) and it came less than 5 mins later. it was lukewarm and clearly not made for us / to order. factory vibes and wasn’t very good

The one time I made the long trip there, we ordered a whole pizza and it came out underbaked, very doughy. Waste of time.

One really good thing about L&B is that they charge the same price on UberEats as they do in store ($32 for a square pie).

Wait for one of those (monthly?) 40% off UberEats coupons and it’s a decent deal for not having to go there. It at least cancels out the tip/delivery fees + you don’t have to make the trip.

most overrated pizza spot in the city for sure

I grew up on L and B and still enjoy it occasionally but it’s overrated. And always has been. Yes it used to be better but even when it was good it was overrated. It’s the only pizza that can be both soggy and burnt at the same time.

This is why I won’t spend $ on pizza…I did few times in Naples though. That’s it …

The square pie from Nino’s in Bay Ridge is delicious! I don’t order L&B anymore.

If you really want a treat, the spicy spring at Prince St in the city is out of this world!

Best Sicilian slice in NY, isn’t in NYC, it’s at Sal’s pizza in Mamaroneck

This is a wack slice. I think they’re quality control is bad but a good slice from L&B is still pretty good

THANK YOU! the amount of times ive been downvoted for saying this is the most overrated food in all of nyc is insane

  19. Disastrous_Camera756

This whole thread is cap. You need to order a pie not a slice.

No way. Order a whole tray and it’s awesome. One of my favorites.

  21. Yea it’s not that special never understood the hype

It’s a shit product and always was. They sell to customers who don’t know any better. Alas, that includes many Italian Americans.

You are right. It’s a vestige of what good food was considered to be in the US before food actually got better. All the new school pizza places are better
