I’ve driven by C.R. Surf and Turf in Cedar Park 100+ times over the years and never stopped. It’s on the stretch of Whitestone Blvd. (RM 1431) between old 183 and 183A that’s plastered with too many restaurants to count. They’ve been there years, yet I’ve never seen this place mentioned by anyone. It’s sort of a hiding in broad daylight kinda place on my radar.
Got two of the cheapest choices on the menu: a cup of Seafood & Sausage gumbo ($6) and a blackened catfish po’boy ($14). Lots of sides to pick from, it’s hard to me to pass up hush puppies when they’re available so I subbed out the fries, no up charge .
Other than wanting everything a little more spicier I got no complaints. Hit it with some Tabasco sauce and I’m happy to get what I got for $20 consider the going rates for dinner. Pretty big menu with steak and lobster dishes at the higher end.
One thing to discuss. I was seated facing a side of the restaurant with live lobster tanks at one end and stacks of beer cases, a keg, and many boxes of restaurant supplies taking up the corner space of the dining room.
This is a causal restaurant with some kitschy coastal decorations so it didn’t necessarily kill the vibe but I notice clutter like this a little too regularly in smaller non-chain type restaurants, which are usually my favorite.
Anyone else notice this and have thoughts on why places do it? I imagine it’s inventory they just don’t have space for? It’s doesn’t necessarily bother me other than as a distraction but I feel like this is the kind of stuff Robert Irvine used to roast people for on his restaurant rescue show.

Need more fish on the seasoning.
This place is definitely a hidden gem. You won’t get five star cuisine here but they do the basics well. My MIL was particularly pleased with the scallops.
How do you feel about shuck me?
Best resonably priced casual seafood in geater austin area. Best deal is the Cajun seafood fried rice – HUGE platter of food feeds 4. Check out the hidden gem shrimp/salsa appetizer too. They also do boils. And theres plenty of fish under that seasoning.
