I fell in love with this dish a few years back after having it at the Clay Pot in Waco on recommendation of my waiter. I’ve had it at Pho Thaison and Hai Ky. They are both pretty good. What other restaurants serve it? Which one is the best? Thanks!

Btw the week day cook at Pho Thaison on William cannon is amazing!

Pho Phi has a pretty good one, but I haven’t tried it anywhere else so unfortunately I don’t have a good means of comparison locally. It can’t beat the places in Houston, but does the job.

Pho van or Sip pho. I don’t think sip always has it, I think it’s a special.

Pho phi is the most authentic version I’ve had in Austin! They serve with viet herbs, shrimp paste and chili sauce.

It’s been about 5 years, so not sure if the quality is still as good.

Tan my, Pho Saigon, Lily’s Sandwich, and maybe Sip Pho. I normally need bbh to have blood cake and a pig’s foot, if it doesn’t I don’t feel like I’m actually having bbh.

  5. How does this kind of soup compare to Guey Tiew Nuer Sod ( Thai boat noodle soup, #27 at Muang Thai is my reference). It is a favorite soup of mine and I’m curious if these are cousins.

I’ve never had this Vietnamese one and I’m following to see thoughts.

One of my favorite Vietnamese dishes!

Fresh Bowl ATX and Tan My are the ones I’ve had and both are very good.

Can someone explain what that white pate-like meat is? There’s two of them in half moons in the one photo. Tia!

Tan My is my favorite but if you don’t want to deal with the parking go to Quan Co 9. They have a very authentic bun bo hue. You can go next to Lilly’s and get sandwiches to go, hit up the fried tofu spot and finish up with dumplings at Taste of Home
