For those that ordered a wok from the Wok Shop and still haven’t received it yet or it took months or thinking about ordering a wok

I ordered a wok from this place after reading the recommendation in Kenji’s book. It took about six weeks, but it arrived and I LOVE it.
I also ordered the Yosukata after hearing about the expected endless wait, and liked it as well. But the one from the Wok shop is my favorite. I’m sure they never expected to sell as many as they did after the book came out, but it seems like they’re doing the best they can.

FWIW, I wok-ed into (SORRY) the shop last year and purchased one for a friend as a gift (along with a copy of The Wok) and it was a great experience 🙂

Went there in May. Clearly they have an insane demand if you were to walk in you can see orders behind the counter, etc. but honestly it adds to the place. I spoke with the lady working there, told her I bet she was busy, and asked if she ever shipped to NYC (of course she has lol). She really enjoyed me telling her how neat the store was and I bought some accessories but she gave me a free spoon that seemed like a little gift for online orders because I was positive and had some pleasant small talk. I don’t why people order from this place KNOWING it’s history with online orders and have the main character energy to think it couldn’t possibly happen to them. Really awesome shop, also highly recommend the Fortune Cookie Factory also in Chinatown SF.

FWIW, I ordered a wok from The Wok Shop 7/1/23, it shipped the next day and arrived 7/5/23.
Everything I had read that had been posted about delivery times was doom and gloom, so just want to make sure there’s more information than the negative bias that likely gets posted, since good/normal things happening are less likely to be reported

I think I ordered in June 2022, after getting The Wok and reading the rec. While I received a note saying it was processing fairly quickly, by late August it still hadn’t shipped. I sent a response asking if I could cancel if it hadn’t already shipped. I never got a response and I never got a wok. It was an interesting “transaction.” I’ve since bought and been satisfied with the yosukata.
