Unpopular opinion: Is it just me, or are Tomahawks overrated ?

I’m a big ribeye fan myself.

I don’t wanna pay for extra bone

I’d say the only reason to get a tomahawk is if you’re gonna get a supreme level crust or smoke it. Even then the meatless bone is always in the way…
Also, many pros season the beef after slicing as well. Helps a lot.

We love to reverse sear them. Usually is the perfect amount of steak for our family of 3.

Depends. The high priced ones I’ve had were all awesome.

I like bone in ribeye, but the cowboy ribeye is stupid from a cooking perspective…the huge bone and thickness is a hurdle that I don’t want in my life

Bone in ribeye is sufficient

If you neglect to render the fat, as it appears you did, then yes.

Tomahawks are only popular because of social media. haha

Oh I’ve never seen this post before? If you think they are overrated you’ve never eating a thick bone in rib-eye before.

I love a tomahawk, but presentation is a major component of its popularity

Unpopular comment, but imo thick steaks like tomahawks over 1 1/4″ have decreasing marginal gain with increasing thickness because there is less crust to meat ratio.
People love the crust because of flavor, but if you’re going to increase the thickness of the steak so much, you’re decreasing the amount of crust per bite. I believe this is why it’s underwhelming.

You can’t eat bone.

Ribeye hands down

This steak was cooked by sitting on the counter top for an hour

It’s overrated. Why not just eat the ribeye for cheaper.

Prime rib. All day. Every day. That should have its own sub…probably does I’m sure.
