Elizabeth st cafe. Pho Ga. An MMH product, I know, I know they even enforce the ugly section (sucks to be you) a la curb your enthusiasm but the viet uncles are just selling bowls of water up on north Lamar. Elizabeth st def too expensive but comparatively the 8-12 bowls up on north Lamar are just hot trash. Fight me. Nice skin on pieces of chicken leg and a deep broth.

You’re leaving mean comments in the threads on Austin food and telling Austin people they have no taste and are ugly when you think Elizabeth Street Cafe has the best pho in Austin? 😂
🤡
Elizabeth St. is Vietnamese food cooked by white kids for ladies who lunch. They have quality ingredients but the amount of hoops you have to jump thru to make it taste anything like a legit Viet restaurant is not worth the outlay of cash. Why do I have to ask for simple syrup to make a passable nuac cham for any of the dishes that need it? It’s fucking laughable. Having said that, even at $30 the redfish fried rice is excellent (but damn that’s expensive fried rice.)
Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion here. If this satisfies your taste buds then so be it. I just hope one day you get to taste pho that makes you understand why people think you’re miles off from good pho (me included).
Lol no sorry
Haven’t had pho in a while eventhough i love it, but to me pho saigon, specifically the location in Chinatown is the best experience. The pho isn’t otherworldly, but it’s always great and exactly the same each time, and reasonably priced to boot.
Oooh I’ve been looking for pho ga with dark meat – surprisingly hard to find in Austin. I hadn’t been to Elizabeth street in years until recently bc I thought it was pricey but when I went this spring, the prices were actually pretty reasonable for what you get! And the ability to eat Vietnamese outdoor dining is kind of rare!
Trời ơi oy vey when does Phở Phong Lưu reopen again?
This is the saddest thread I’ve seen in a while and I actually like ESC. RIP, bro.
