I’m a fan of [kuding](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuding) tea and don’t have a lot of sources for it where I’m from, but I’ll be visiting NYC in October. Are there any good tea shops I might visit, in Chinatown, or elsewhere?

[Po Wing Hong](https://www.yelp.com/biz/po-wing-hong-food-market-new-york-2) in Chinatown is my go to for dried goods like dried shrimp/scallops. It looks like [they have Kuding Tea on their site](https://powingonline.com/products/folium-llicis-latifoliae-herbal-tea-kuding-tea?_pos=1&_sid=82a796fda&_ss=r) so I’m fairly confident they would have it in the store if you ask.

Ten Ren in Chinatown used to be my go to for Chinese loose tea. They used to have 2 stores right next to each other, one for boba-type drinks and one specifically for loose tea. They closed the loose tea shop and combined into one store during COVID. I think they should still sell loose tea but the selection is probably much smaller. Maybe worth dropping by if you’re in Chinatown but I’m a bit doubtful that they would have it.

If you want random tea shops to visit:

I’d recommend [Setsugekka](https://www.yelp.com/biz/setsugekka-east-village-new-york-4) specifically for Matcha (they only serve matcha lol). Would also recommend going during the weekdays so you can sit and relax because one of their regulars said that there’s a line out the door on the weekend.

The regulars also recommended checking out [Genesis House](https://www.yelp.com/biz/genesis-house-new-york-5) specifically for tea. They said they wouldn’t recommend the food because it’s expensive and wasn’t that good but the tea is very good and their tea room has very good vibes. I haven’t had the chance to go yet but it looks super good. Plus it’s like right next to Chelsea Market (another great spot for food) and the High Line.

[Cha-An](https://www.yelp.com/biz/cha-an-new-york) is also great specifically for their tea and desserts. I’ve never tried their regular food.

[Xing Fu Tang](https://www.yelp.com/biz/xing-fu-tang-new-york) hands down makes the best brown sugar bubble tea in NYC. They have a machine cutting up the boba and they cook it right in front of the counter so it’s always super fresh. It’s a few bucks more than other spots but worth it.

There’s also te company in west village – their in-store selection is bigger than what they offer online.
