The weekend was grueling. We have maintained electricity. Praise the Lord. But we are conserving as much as we can. We have a high fire danger this week. It’s almost uninhabitable in the afternoons here in Texas. I know this high pressure is now over the center of the country and affecting many of you. Keep praying for a change in this pattern. We are getting to be at a loss for words until we see something change.

  1. I’m central Texas and even the trees leaves are crisping up. We live in front of this 400 acres and there is a huge tree line which is bringing major concern for fire.

  2. Got our electric bill $353. Last month $250. I fell they are gouging us. I just don’t have it. Donnie was let go from his work after his fall. Prayers please at my wits end

  3. I just watched your video on saving cantaloupe seeds and getting ready to do it. I am so tired of these triple digit temps. I had thought about trying to grow broccoli, but haven't had any success yet. They always seem to get real leggy.

  4. At this point, I wouldn't put it past the federal government being responsible for this. Texas needs the coal and nuclear back if anyone is going to survive. Who knows though, hopefully this is a once in a lifetime event. They wont stop talking about it on the news or anything, makes you think. There's never been pressure ridges that lasted this long, not even in the dust bowl. That was heavy drought.
They had a treaty against weather manipulation for malicious use in 1978 but it didn't apply to the country itself, only to opposing forces such as Vietnam as it was first tested there to create flooding. Im not entirely suggesting it is the government's fault, but given everyone else's suspicions like the fires in Maui and the fires in my birth country and province of saskatchewan, it's very suspicious and strange with all this dry weather and heat.

  5. I think my brain is starting to look like a raisin. The psychological effect of this drought/heat stretching so long is like you said—a desert. The Word says to give thanks in everything…so …I'm praising Him for the drought and for the heat. No, I don't understand it's purpose except to glorify Him for keeping us.
I am trying to take note of seeds that do well in heat and drought. Sort of make a list of things that do well in drought, heat, flood and cold. Sort of plant a little of it all each season. I don't know.
Storms in the Atlantic sort of seem to not even know what they are doing. Going this way and that. It is certainly a time to run to the Creator of everything. He is our relief. Love you guys…Jesus bless.

  6. I am so tired and discussed with this heat . From 7 to 10 am is a good fair time to work outside after that I hide inside the house , it feels like jail or something. I sit outside late in evenings just to clear my mind some . Unfortunately the rain we were supposed to get shifted south. Corpus . So we out of luck , if any tomorrow will be the day for rain .
One more day , that's how I keep going. Hang in there . 🙏🏻

  7. Hello friends. I have a question that’s a bit different. We’re looking to out a few of those small homes up on the land and ideas or starting pint advise? Stay cool and sending prayers for all of us homesteaders during heat and misery

  8. So sorry for you. We have a wildfire that is 1 mile from us in the Pine Barrens of NJ. It is very concerning but they are saying that it is 10% contained and has burned 600 acres, heading further into the forest and we aren’t in any danger…at the present 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

  9. Death Ridge. Typically means bone-dry conditions and extreme heat. An area of high atmospheric pressure [heat dome] that prevents clouds and rain from forming. I was hoping that system in the gulf would stay more north and bring y'all some much needed cooler temps and rain, but its heading to low southern TX. That misting setup may be your saving grace till conditions are better.

  10. I’ve decided to wait on starting seeds. Right now I just feel it’s pointless to waste my precious seeds even though I have plenty.
We have two greenhouses but it’s so hot here in Central Texas even in the morning that I can’t stay out more than 20 to 30 minutes at a time without feeling heat sick. I get our animals fed at day break. Like you, we keep watching the horizon for glow.
We haven’t seen any down drafts but it’s very hilly where we are. Not flat lands. Still, we keep an eye out.
My main concern right now are our fruit trees. They are in sad shape from so much heat. I hope we don’t lose them.
I saw on the weather this morning that this heat dome will not move out until mid September. How on earth do those desert people live in the heat. I guess it’s because the humidity doesn’t exist. This is awful!

  11. Fingers crossed for the new seedlings!! You did make me laugh when you said that each year they invent new weather terms. My husband and I had a similar conversation last week about the local weather reports! Anyway, still praying for you and everyone dealing with weather events!

  12. Ponder said this could last until mid September. Ugh! I just thank God that I still have my home where others have lost everything to flood and fire.

  13. It's pretty sad when you see forcasts for 104 to 107 and get excited that may mean COOLER temps. Yesterday we had a squirrel die. She came to use for help but it was too late. I cried. I love the squirrels. They are so lively and they play tag with our dogs. But not this year.

We are trying to keep our sweet potatoes alive. Hope they make it. My herbs are hanging in but they are bolting. Will try to save our seeds. Peppers and okra are still there but are struggling. It's sad to see okra struggle from heat.

My daughter lost 6 young pullets yesterday.

I was thinking maybe we should all set a time and come together for an online prayer session. Maybe that would help.

I keep thinking of a book called Angels Don't Play These Haarps. Haven't read it but I know it's about artificial climate control.

Jill just hang in there gal. You know the plan God has for you and He is not going to let you fall. But He never said it would be easy.

Good to see Mr. Hank with the beautiful eyes and I caught a glimpse of Miss Bear. Such beauties. Count your blessings, not your trials. We walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death.
    🙏🏼4u

  14. Yes here in East Texas, just woke up and one day it was just brown grass and crunchy. Everyone be safe. This isnt good. We need rain

  15. Going to be really hot this week in Western Kentucky. Triple digits after having two days in the 70's?? My plants are struggling with the rollercoaster weather. I am hoping that one of those storms brings rains to your area because this will take months if not years to recover from. Take care, Jill, and stay safe. God Bless.

  16. You mentioned feeling like your in the desert.. I live in Arizona.. I feel for you.. it's been miserable for several states.. I pray you get some rain soon.

  17. Your herbs are looking great , especially your basil . Hopefully we will great a break from this awful heat relatively soon. 🤞🤞

  18. Oh I’m so glad that your mister is working!!! The drought here is so bad this year that the live oaks on our property are showing signs of distress. My seed starts inside are doing pretty okay, just now starting to harden them off to outside temperatures. My goal is to get them outside overnight to adjust to the heat and humidity, but not leave them outside during the day until the daytime temperatures look more like fall. Good luck, Jill. I’m praying for you.
