Made a batch of Kenji’s [best chili ever](https://www.seriouseats.com/the-best-chili-recipe) for a chili cook off at work and it was the biggest hit, being decimated in 15 minutes. Comparing side by side to others that were competing really shows the difference between braised short ribs and ground beef… Thanks Kenji, once again.

I love this recipe; I just wish it didn’t take $70 in ingredients to make (short rib here is at the cheapest, like $10-11/lb so five pounds sets the starting cost at $50-55 plus everything else). Don’t get me wrong, absolutely worth it for the amount of chili it makes, but it hurts every time I go shopping to make it.
