Farro is the oldest and purest (no hybrid) form of wheat and a proeinbomb! Goes back to Egyptian Times. It's soooooo healthy and delicious! Thank you so much for this!!! It looks so yummy!!
A great receipe. All nationalities have great tasting, high fiber dishes. I am guessing there are 5-8 grams of fiber per 1/2 to 1 cup serving like all natural grain meals. I am also guessing the reason to rinse farro is so that it will not stick. Congrads on your success.
I thought it looks like Burgul (Burgol)..it is a main ingredient in many of our Midde Eastern cooking…we have it fine and coarse…many recipes out of it
this looks so good Laura. :D. I'm more of a hearty meat lover so i know chicken and fish is traditional matching with this but i'm thinking veal. :3. I'll try this out!
I'd like to try farro…but, what the heck does it taste like???? Any pasta, grain, or other food to compare it to??? I didn't even know it existed until today…'po me
I made this today and added spinach and lemon pepper seasoning and cream cheese on top of your suggested ingredients. I shared it with my neighbors and they both said OMG delicious, they could taste the lemon pepper seasoning and made it even more delicious. Thank you for this recipe, this is my go to summer salad.
There are three different types of faro so you need to look up and see if you have the whole grain farro which actually takes far longer to cook and you should soak it for an hour first…. There are two other types of farro that are quicker cooking but not as nutritious. Just like barley, there is whole grain barley pearled barley and instant barley.
You can also make a delicious salad with feta cheese, seedless cucumbers, kalamata olives, tri-colored peppers, cherry tomatoes, farro, and Caesar dressing.
Your recipes are the best , Laura! I also really like bean-celery salad of yours. Have been making it every other day in the past couple weeks! Thank you 🙂 Keep inspiring us!
This was super delicious! I have searched "Healthy Laura Vitale" recipes and this one was one of many that came up. This is insanely delicious. I made it with your basil pesto. Thank you!
