Any possible long term problems if I keep cooking with this, and any ideas on what the common causes are for these cracks? My suspicion is that this happened after I closed the vents fully at around 400F as I had to leave the house, and didn’t have time as usual to more gradually cool it off after a cook.

1. You can cook with it no problem.
2. You might want to consider a warranty claim to have a replacement for when the firebox completely breaks apart.
3. It might be thermal shock but not from cooling down. When I cook pizza I max out the gauge and close the vents to cool it down and my fb is still intact.
