Learn how to make coleslaw two ways! An easy, creamy coleslaw recipe + a vinegar based coleslaw (no mayo coleslaw). Homemade coleslaw is the perfect side dish for summer parties, potlucks and barbecues. My recipe is light, flavorful and has far less sugar than you’ll find in store-bought versions or from KFC.

Coleslaw is a great recipe to make ahead for meal prep and it will last for 3-5 days in the fridge. Cabbage is extremely healthy, so enjoy what I consider to be the best coleslaw recipe!

  1. I wonder if you can sub the honey for maple syrup, giving you the option of sugar free. Im gonna try it with fat free with mayo as well.

  2. Try adding shredded mango and cilantro to the slaw mix and making a dressing with very finely chopped chillies, crushed in a mortar, mayonnaise, Thai fish sauce, lime juice and sweet chilli sauce.
Add sliced cooked chicken, and strips of tomato meat and it becomes a meal.

  3. I like both, but the vinegar dressing works sooooo much better on my porkbelly sliders. Thanks so much!

  4. Yes I despise mayonnaise-based coleslaws – for precisely the reason I despise vinegar, which is a core ingredient of most mayonnaise even before you poured extra into the first dressing. So where do I go?! :))))))))))))))))))

  5. Thank you lovely lady, I was preparing coleslaw tonight to go with our fish and realized I didn't have any mayo. You saved the day and showed me that you don't need mayo for coleslaw salads. Greetings from Toronto.

  6. Hello,
we followed your recipe of mayoless slaw, and it was a hit, the kids said its bussin, thats a good thing, thankyou for a great recipe 👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥

  7. I don't mind mayo, but I'm allergic to soy and it's VERY difficult to find mayo without soybean oil in it…being from Alaska doesn't help, I'm sure. Thanks for showcasing the many options for us with dietary restrictions!

  8. I don’t like Mayo much but I’d like a creamy version. I’m wondering if I could use table cream instead. Have you made a creamy one with table cream or something similar? Do you think that’s possible? Thank you for sharing your delicious recipes! 🤗

  9. Does anyone knows why we can't use celery salt instead of celery seeds? what is the difference?

  10. No need to wash the inner cabbage? I am always worried that there might be parasite eggs in it

  11. Your vinegar dressing tastes like what I've been looking for. I used a bag of slaw from the store (Publix) and it was about right. I don't like my slaw swimming in dressing and it was not. I will do it again and thank you.

  12. I am here to see your recipe for vinegar coleslaw. L love creamy mayo coleslaw but don't think I can fit it into my diet. It isn't only the sugar. From the nutrition labels I looked up, mayo has 90 calls per Tbs, and that adds up to 1400 per cup. Now if you use 2C of mayo that is 2400 calories but since you will probably not eat the whole slaw by yourself you will only eat some fraction of that 1400 cals. But I could eat all of that slaw over 2 or 3 days time. I don't see sugar as a problem. I would just sub a zero calorie sweetener. Don't get me wrong. I am still a fan.

  13. thank you for opening my eyes and taste buds to a vinegar coleslaw – rockinit

  14. I have a food processor, and for the sake of my hands and wrists, I would let it do all the chopping.
