R/austinfood Rule #2: Posts with “Best XXX?” will be removed.
*Disclaimer: I don’t mind these types of posts. I just find it funny that its the most prevalent type of posts in this subreddit. Might as well just remove the rule.

COMPLETELY on board with that. WTF is the matter with it, besides? If it’s what people want to talk about, let them talk about it.

Isn’t that the most useful kind of post for a food sub?

It’s so stupid and the mods don’t understand that. “Just type it into google” so they can show me paid ads? Google doesn’t show flea market stalls, shops that don’t advertise, or new restaurants. the point of the sub is for austin food so…why is that banned? just idiotic

“Best food” changes from year to year. Keep the discussion coming I say

I follow up far more frequently on going to try the food in these posts than I do on the restaurant posts.

Well….it is a dumb rule.

Seems a rather unenforced rule, which I like, as as many times best tacos, bbq, pizza, duck, dumplings, baja burritos, chaat, cabrito, naan,..posts are made, I always learn something new to try.

The rule is really meant to stop people that post “Best Pizza?” With no other information in the body. Other rules can cover that scenario such as the low effort post rule so I think it’s time for a rewrite. Sometimes I’ll let one the directly violates this rule because by the time I see it, people have already had a useful discussion and I don’t want to remove that information.

Behind every food influencer is a cook staff looking for a slow day.

Banning the most common post. Bad mods.

This is a dumbass rule in a food sub.

Literally the only reason I’m here. Were posts like this actively removed, I would actively remove myself. I love discovering new places or new choices at known places based upon the collective experience of people who live in Austin and care enough about where and what they eat to share. No better way for me to try something new and help local businesses earn new customers, imo.

I misread this post so fkn hard. I was wondering who the hell would post the best porn on a food page anyways… if not for the comments I’d still be lost.
