We got the bbq mix plate 15.99, garlic shrimp 13.99, chicken katsu 13.69, and loco moco plate 13.59, and spam musubi 3.39. Garlic shrimp was excellent and fried well. Not very saucy if you prefer a more buttery shrimp, the chicken katsu was a tad soggy (we ate it fresh) and could’ve been seasoned and fried alittle better. Galbi has no char or sear marks and tastes like teriyaki beef (wasn’t a fan), loco moco was pretty good. The gravy was spot on and super delicious with the rice and egg but the meat itself is tough if you’re not a fan of that. spam musubi is more saucy than others i had but in a good way! The food was so cheap for the portions. It’s a great spot for food in South Austin and the workers are very friendly. I wouldn’t get the galbi again.

Oh yay, it’s a real place?! I thought it was a food truck at The Thicket

I’m moving back to Hawaii later this year and that setup brings back some memories.

I visited this June and my nostalgic memories was eating Malasadas as well as buying groceries at Don Quixote’s

If I’m not mistaken, the pork in SD used to be cooked in the sand traditional style? Is there any info on rather or not that’s still done (even back at the SD locations unsure). Had it a loooong time ago when visiting and seemed to remember that

    Looks great either way!

Which do you think is “better” … this or Hawaii Nei? (Seems like this one for price and portion, although it’s disappointing to hear the galbi isn’t good!)

  7. They gon have to work on them short ribs, they look weak from this photo.

  8. I always thought it was a national chain, didn’t realize it’s regional and from SA. It’s tasty though.

I didn’t know the L&L here was open yet! I haven’t been to L&L for about 10 years (used to go in SF when I traveled there for work) & have been missing their loco moco.

thanks for letting us know they’re open!
